Apologies to my 🎅 #SecretSantaAoNZ as I haven't had much time for SoMe, but thanks in advance. Honestly, I will appreciate whatever you enjoy giving. Easy ideas = lined notebooks, fine-nibbed pens, whole coffee beans or dark chocolate.

Some interesting reading, here. Rapidly developing technology is making it increasingly difficult to ensure that de-identified health data remains that way. Food for thought for researchers and ethics committees 🤔 #ResearchEthics #ResearchDataManagement www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Health NZ nurses are striking again, today. Senior doctors are considering doing the same. My ED SMO colleague is telling it how it is, in emergency care, right now. The worst I've seen it, this century [yep, I'm that old]. #EMSky #EMSSky www.rnz.co.nz/national/pro...

We should be investing in employing health graduates and retaining them in New Zealand. Politicians choose easy, short-term 'wins' like opening new medical schools and funding cancer drugs. But who is going to look after you when you're old and frail?

Delighted to share the keynote talk from the Monash Patient Safety and Human Factors conference.

It examines what do we mean by “patient safety?”, exploring the roots of current approaches and how they leave us blind to changing risk and our increasingly brittle systems.
