Waiting on news about retirements around Christmas recess. All the signs are there
Now is the time to fight, not surrender. 🗣️
Schumer must step down from his post as minority leader and allow for new leadership to emerge—someone who is willing to consistently fight for the American people.

Progressive group MoveOn calls on Schumer to step aside
"Inexplicably, some Senate Democrats, under Leader Schumer's watch, decided to surrender."

Google: how does Iowa fill a Senator's term if they were to pass away in office? Same for Kentucky?

On every Dem primary for the Senate and House seats in 2026, one of the questions has to be "will you vote to fund and expand the ACA in the 2027 budget?" Anything other than a "yes, and..." should be political suicide
I'm seeing a ton of people going "What? Was that the promised vote?" and I am despairing for the future of my party.
What part of this do people not understand? You could hold 1,000 votes, you could take the entire Senate hostage at gunpoint, and you would not get the GOP to vote for the subsidies.

Why do all the Sun Belt teams have only home games from January to March? - me in 2027
You’ve probably heard that the MLS Board of Governors is meeting this week to discuss, among other things, a move to the “European” schedule. My understanding is that there’s no way that happens in 2026, but there’s a very real possibility that it could happen in 2027.

After a fight during last Saturday's conference game, the SWAC issues $65,000 in fines ($40k to Grambling St, $25k to Bethune-Cookman) and suspends 27 players (18 from Grambling, 9 from B-CU), with 25 players suspended for one game with 3 suspended for two.

Recession indicators all around!
The US Trump Administration is reportedly working on 15 year car loans.
US President Donald Trump also posted yesterday regarding allowing 50 year mortgages.

It's such a set up for big LLCs to turn a house into a long term rental property AND a tax write off
It’s no way people are stupid enough to agree with a 50 Year Mortgage….
That won’t help housing prices. It’ll make cash flowing a mortgage easier, but it’ll only make housing more expensive.

The olds are finally reading the tea leaves!
Democratic Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, who is the first Black woman to represent New Jersey in Congress, announces she won't seek reelection. Watson Coleman, who is 80, leaves behind a seat that, per calculations by The Downballot, favored Kamala Harris 61-37. www.the-downballot.com/p/the-downba...

Around March 2027, things will get really really bad. Hope there is competent leadership in place everywhere
We’ve got about 18 months before this gets really bad. When they have to start replacing hardware and everyone they ask for more money says no.
This is insane. This is *literally* doing the same mechanics of the housing crisis and 2008 recession but to create debt to finance construction of AI data centers

As a former heavy drinker, there have been many events where I've stayed sober rather than drink bad beer (IPAs and Busch Lite) at an event . I feel ya Sen Kaine
This is far and away my pettiest Tim Kaine gripe but the Senator’s advance staff always deliver a bottle of Maker’s Mark that is for him only to fundraising events so he doesn’t have to do toasts with the cheap beer and wine the hosts provide and that always really irked me

In a two party system with first past the post voting in single member districts, there is no real choice for voters disillusioned with their party.
In a multiparty system with proportional representation, parties actually have to compete to represent voters. We should move to PR.

How do you make this your central demand for 40 days and then just let it go
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.

Just like in March, y'all got it
I have to be careful and not blame all Dem Senators for the cloture vote on Sunday. It wasn’t a majority of the Dems. It was quite a few who aren’t up for reelection. So I don’t even know what they were thinking.
I will continue to support Dems - except for my Senator Fetterman who can rot in hell.

Guess I was wrong and the Dems need a more thorough purity test come the next few elections for senators
This isn't my first shutdown. I am going to need more then "I heard..." And whispers from obvious Republicans insiders before I start getting angry at Dems
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

A word of caution about the new Axios report that Dem Senators are caving. Remember the NYT ran articles for months claiming that Harvard was caving, which.. never happened. Turns out their anonymous sources were Trump staffers. Axios may be similar.
But, it never hurts to call your Senator.

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.
If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
