I’m not sure how to tell everyone this, but in Evangelical circles, young girls are treated not only as adult women, but as temptresses who must be subdued and controlled. This isn’t a side belief—it’s a foundational principle we were taught from day one.

Nowhere near enough mention of what Q1, if passed, would do to Indigenous voting rights in Maine. I'm guilty, too, of not mentioning it enough in posting I've done around #SaveAbsenteeVoting.

It took Platner's promotion around today's Save Absentee Voting concert & rally to bring attention to it.
Wabanaki Alliance urged a NO on 1 Vote for just this reason. Not allowing tribal ID to vote is both insult and injury. @wabanakialliance.bsky.social

Before I moved to Eastport, I lived and worked in Portland for over a decade. I saw firsthand how a waterfront city can trade its soul for short-term tourism dollars — and lose its community in the process.

Eastport has one of the deepest natural harbors in the continental U.S. That’s a rare and valuable asset. It’s not just good for cruise ships — it’s ideal for marine research, education, sustainable f...

Last night was the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's midnight ride to warn the Minutemen of approaching British troops.

I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III.

Remind you of anyone?

If you’re reading my writing, odds are you already know most of what King spoke about.

What you may not fully realize is that your voice matters. Your letters, your phone calls, your presence—they make a difference.

I see it. I have lived it. 83 years ago, the U.S. government turned upon a group of its own citizens and residents and sent them to internment camps without due process. I was there among them. American fascism is back. It is here. It is now.

"how are things?"
I have had a couple of small personal victories lately, but it definitely feels pre-apocalyptic to say: "Outside of the global financial collapse, I've had kind of a nice week."
