We're getting ready for the big snow. Yesterday I started the generator one more time since October. I just brought in some extra wood from under the deck. All stocked up on essentials in case we're snowed in for a few days. Looks like our area will get at least 12" and it could be double that. ❄️

One thing that's becoming clear about national reaction to the Minnesota protests is other Americans don't understand how desolate, cold, and empty the upper Midwest gets this time of year. The federal government gave people with nothing to do for the next three months something to fucking do.
I know people keep saying this but it’s hard to communicate the depth of active resistance here. Like, I’m on random cafes and people are checking in for observation shifts. Signs everywhere. Folks in visibility vests on the corners. It’s wild. Absolutely wild.
