While some hoity-toity artsy-fartsy folk love hiding behind metaphor, the reality of them doesn't need to be so inaccessibly ethereal.
A metaphor is just using one thing to stand in for another.

I haven't seen the halftime show because I've [gestures to 5 cancelled flights and 29 literal hours of delay] but it sounds like it was great.

Update: Flight #2 took off while Flight #1 was still landing, with us onboard. So we're now taking off at… 11:00pm tonight and getting to Quebec at 4:30pm, tomorrow, a full… 29 hours after we were supposed to.
Plus side: Nord-Bec dogsledding was very understanding. We're rebooked for Thursday. <3
