I want you to know that I'm laughing in anger at my phone. The laughter is for you; the anger for those who would read or speak your words unironically! XD

Failure is the best part of learning - it's the part that tells you what not to do next time.

It's also the worst part of learning because it's what you *shouldn't* have done *this* time…

Unfortunately I'm this case "best" is long-term, for growth; "worst" is short-term, visceral response.

Ooh Bones. Haven't thought about that one in a while! Good choice.
November 12, 2025 at 2:18 AM
The in-laws are pushing us to watch Wednesday with them, so I'm…discomfort-watching it? XD

I've been live-posting some of my reactions; I don't hate the show, but also we're not like *choosing* to watch it, so…

It's funny enough, though, so that's nice!

So they'd probably just refuse to send it if it was pre-paid, eh? Wherein "pre-paid" would amount to "someone has ostensibly given us $1.50 to send this" rather than "we must deliver this on pain of death and collect postage afterward", or something like that?

So cute! Love the colours and pose!
November 12, 2025 at 2:13 AM
Like, I want to be clear, I do not hate the show. I think it has some good things going for it! Some things it gets wrong. It's a show! That's fair, it happens. I wouldn't keep watching if I hated it.

I like digging into things regardless of how great I think they are - good and bad! <3

Then his car exploded, because midichlorians, loose bolts make cars explode (as much as five gallons of gas in a fountain full of water will melt bronze - anyway).

It's trying to both play fast and loose with the rules, whilst also impressing you with the thoroughness of those rules, and just…no?
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
~constructing a narrative that clashes through nature of those very disconnects. Oh hey a kid slipped poison into Wednesday's drink - whatever, rule of cool, she's developed an immunity to poison (we made a Princess Bride reference aren't we so clever?) but oh no, that guy didn't notice a loose nut.
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
This, though, in Wednesday - and this is, I think, the core issue (and a large part of what wrecked Beetlejuice 2) - is trying to do both.

Half the time it's showing you Midichlorians. The other half it wants you to chill with Rule of Cool.

It doesn't play nicely with itself in this way,~
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Which is fine, by the way! Rule of cool is fine, and most of what made the earlier Addams stuff so successful - Wednesday straps Pugsley down, zaps him with a million volts, smoke, flashes, fire, and…he survives.

Why? How? Doesn't matter. Rule of cool.
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
When you Midichlorian, you say "look at all these factual details and how they line up in realistic structure and it all makes sense!" and you *encourage* the audience - demand of them, even - to inspect the details.

That means they must stand up to scrutiny.

These…don't, always.
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Although.

…how did they drive the truck there? Does one of those high schoolers have their class one? I don't know the tonnage on that truck but I don't think it's something you can drive with a normal licence - but hey, maybe, though.

This is the problem, though, with Midichlorianning.
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
They've probably seen blood before. On first seeing the tanker truck, I expected a septic pumpout - and let me tell you I am SO GLAD I was wrong XD

I do really appreciate the blood for the referential nature of it to other "classic" pranks involving pig's blood (referenced further by Wednesday).
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
~that inspired them! Even despite the inaccuracy of the audible alarm and such - and I'm not a plumber so I don't actually *know* whether that would be doable, I'll admit.

I feel like it's a bit…wan, as a prank, especially against a group of "killer freaks" including werewolves and vampires.
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
~fault that. Not saying I'll never mention a teenager thing but overall they're not a target of mine (I'd like to think, in fact, that I don't really have any targets! XD)

The dance scene was great, up to and including the blood sprinklers - very well done, probably better than the Blade movie~
November 12, 2025 at 2:05 AM
Okay, episode is over (and also I had a shower) - gotta say the dance scene was very fun, I'm not taking off points for any of the teenager stuff because…well, they're teenagers. I technically was one and didn't vibe with them even when I was, but I recognize the accuracy of the writing. Can't~

These people staying perfectly still as their bowels are ripped out are very, very helpful for the camera crew!
