as correct as michael is here this is the inverse of how it works in the world of elite commentary, where a willingness to entertain race science somehow makes you more credible for your "heterodoxy" (see: charles murray)
imo, if someone believes some races or ethnicities are genetically inferior to others, that person has revealed a weakness of mind and character that casts extreme if not irrefutable doubt on their other ideas. why would i expect them to use more rigor on, eg, housing than they do on human nature?

Hi friends, it's that time of the semester. My public opinion class has put together an original survey, and we'd be grateful if you'd take it! It should only take about 4-5 minutes to complete. virginia.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

I, on the other hand, would prefer members of Congress to bellyache quite a bit about what they believe to be unconstitutional exercises of presidential power vis-a-vis the execution of Congress's spending decisions.

As Dems reelect a spritely 74-year-old Chuck Schumer as Senate Leader, this is a reminder that U.S. politicians are the oldest of any democracy, despite the U.S. having one of the youngest populations.

(The one addendum I'd put on this is that the degree to which framing matters varies considerably by issue, and the mere presence of that volatility -- and how it manifests -- can itself say a lot about strength of opinion and how people are approaching the issue.)
You probably already know that question wording matters a lot in polling. But this chart from @aedwardslevy.bsky.social at @cnn.com underscores the point: Public support for mass deportation varies from 62% to 33%, depending on how the question is asked. www.cnn.com/2024/11/17/p...

Vincent Hutchings offered perspective on race & voting in today's @umisrcps.bsky.social post-election analysis. W/ 85% supporting Harris, the story of Black voters shifting toward Trump has been exaggerated. In fact, a key takeaway is how little the Black/White voter gap has changed since 1968.
