Possibly an even worse site to say this on than twitter, but I think everyone forgets the simple value of waiting a couple weeks and seeing how things play out if you've got the option.

This is true, but if you go to johns that raises the question of why you arent getting a roast pork, which is better.
If you bring someone to Philadelphia and you want them to have an authentic cheesesteak experience, take them to John’s Roast Pork.

“It’s a symphony of a sandwich,” according to Inquirer reporter Tommy Rowan.

New in The Agitator: Two new articles about the One Member, One Vote proposal we've endorsed for next week's convention!

First, Mike D. dissects the sharply conflicting assumptions behind the 1M1V debate about what internal democracy is and what it's for.

Really cool article that gets at the heart of the contention between defining "democracy" in DSA but also left politics more broadly!
New post on the substack!

Tl;dr - people in DSA mean fundamentally different things when we say "democracy" or "more democratic"

Thread of what I'm reading, partially for accountability. Starting with what I just finished:

I got sort of inured to the tendency of conspiracy fiction to hit you over the head with the Political Import last year's Ellroy binge. Found the system focus and vagueness refreshing here.

America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.

Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.

Which 00s pop song do YOU think Bud should be a backup dancer in next?
In the Agitator, Mike D. analyzes @dsarandr.bsky.social's dirty break convention resolution, arguing that a break and programmatic unity would unintentionally make DSA a more conservative organization. He distinguishes between 'party logic' and the way DSA chooses candidates now. Link below:

septa is perfect and can only be failed, actually
For the third year in a row, Philadelphians await the commonwealth’s budget with bated breath.

Opinion writer Daniel Pearson asks: Will SEPTA get the funding it desperately needs? Or is it three strikes and we’re out half of our Regional Rail network?

Its funny. Corey Robin's book was very controversial when he defined conservatism as a defense of hierarchical rule, and I got some push back for insisting that it was premised on a rejection of equality.

Now a lot of conservative thinkers just affirm that view unambiguously and proudly.

Make a mass org that wins primaries against incumbents and I will take you seriously: until then this is cope.

Cope that, I will note, is reinforced by the scoreboard between twin cities dsa and stancil's own, uh, "efforts"
They took the proud tradition of militant liberalism - a tradition that predates the whole Marxist/communist error - and tried to disappear it completely. Your choice was "always compromise" or "join DSA," which turned out to be great for everyone who wanted Trump to win
