We spoke to the Journal recently about the rapidly rising number of vulnerable road user deaths this year

On Oct 2nd, along with other transport & road safety groups, we’ll be presenting at the Oireachtas, calling for @Love30 to be introduced Nationally

Road deaths are going down - but more cyclists and pedestrians are being killed. Why?
The number of pedestrian and cyclist deaths is now at the highest level in six years.

The Government rollback on commitments to reduce road speeds is quite simply shocking!

30kph speeds have been proven to reduce road accidents, injuries and fatalities but will now be left up to local Councils

We’re calling on them to recommit to #Love30

This is fun
Weird that the CSO has a feature to download a "certificate" of how many babies were born in a given year with a given name. I wonder how many people have done this?

Entirely expected and almost entirely PREVENTABLE projections for food-related ill-health. Issues with causes that whole populations are exposed to need population-level solutions = policy, regulation.. government action free of undue influence from the very parties who produce those causes

Making cycling an easier and safer option for more people has so many multiple benefits (health, economic, environmental), there is no justification for delays or short-sighted budget cuts.

A good reminder that cycle lanes and footpaths don't appear congested as they (mostly) allow people to move through quickly and efficiently.

What a curious find!
Edinburgh, 1836: some boys were searching for rabbits on Arthur’s Seat. Hidden in the side of a cliff, they found 17 tiny coffins, each containing a wooden doll wearing hand-sewn clothes…

Do better @businesspost.bsky.social than platforming this insulting industry nonsense.

More than half of deaths in Ireland are caused by just four harmful commodities: *fossil fuels*, tobacco, alcohol, and unhealthy foods.

What about some bravery and focus on the real issues instead?
“We foxes really have the good of the henhouse at heart”. lol.

Of all the crazy, delusional #climate denial nonsense I’ve seen in an Irish paper in last 20 years, this may be the worst.

Wow, @businesspost.bsky.social

To the incoming Irish government: Abandoning the 2:1 public/active transport investment ratio is a grave mistake.

Active and public transport saves lives, cuts emissions, improves health, and reduces healthcare costs.

Investing in roads over people is a step backwards!

Sadly predictable that the health section of #leadersdebate made no reference to prevention.

Chronic diseases account for 76% of all deaths annually & 75% of bed days. Our health system will never cope with demand.

Chronic diseases are largely preventable if govt. tackle their root causes. #GE24
