Intrinsic dysfunction in muscle stem cells lacking dystrophin begins during secondary myogenesis - Nature Communications
In mdx mouse fetuses, the lack of dystrophin markedly impairs secondary myogenesis due to reduced muscle stem cell polarity. AAK1 deletion restores polarity and rescues secondary myogenesis, revealing...

Skeletal muscle-derived IL-33 mediates muscle-to-bone crosstalk and regulates bone metabolism via CD8+ T cell-secreted CCL5
Our research has uncovered a muscle-bone communication mechanism primarily mediated by IL-33, linking muscle dysfunction to bone loss. This interaction could be a promising therapeutic target for musc...

In the last 72 hours or so Donald Trump has:
• Demolished a large section of the White House
• Posted a video of himself dropping shit on the American people
• Demanded a $230 million payout from his own Department of Justice

Also the federal government is still shut down, but, y’know…

Many people are outraged that Trump is demolishing part of the White House. But of course Trump can't do it without help. It's ACECO LLC of Silver Spring MD ("full-service demolition") that is tearing down the People's House. You can call them and let them know how you feel. 1/

Neither is DC a war zone …
Dear WH Press Corp
You should be ashamed of yourself.
Start demanding answers. Portland isn’t on fire. Chicago isn’t at war. Seattle isn’t thanking him.
ANTIFA isn’t assaulting ICE agents
Hold him accountable for the lies.
Refuse to ask anything else until he answers these.

Nice work from Val Wilson & co on neuromesodermal progenitors

SOX2/TBXT co-expressing cells are self-propagating bipotent NMPs

Increasing TBXT levels (not SOX2/TBXT ratio) switch NMPs from neural- to mesoderm-biased

Brachyury expression levels predict lineage potential and axis-forming ability of in vitro derived neuromesodermal progenitors
Neuromesodermal progenitors (NMPs) produce the spinal cord and musculoskeleton in the elongating anterior-posterior axis. In vivo, NMPs possess dual potency, coinciding with regions coexpressing SOX2 ...

Teaching is one of those jobs where doing it doesn't make it done.

My husband can't rest until all the tasks are complete.

If I, a teacher, felt that way, I would be in intensive care.

My 2nd year PhD and I worked on an NSF GFRP this year. 🥺🤯🤬
Continuing efforts to hurt the research pipeline, the very late NSF GFRP solicitation no longer allows 2nd year PhD students to apply. Lots of these students chose not to apply last year because they were told they would have a better change once in their thesis lab www.nsf.gov/funding/oppo...

This was (horrible) news to me. Took a few minutes to sign - you should too!
Please share with anyone who cares about NSF support for graduate students and take 30 seconds to sign and leave a comment.

The deadline for the 2025 Graduate Research Fellowship Program is about one month away and literally no one can apply. #NSFGRFP
