Get to know my music taste in 365 songs!

Inspired by @kyleor.land's #365games thread, I'm going to post every day about a song that is meaningful to me. These aren't necessarily the "best" songs, but they're all songs that left an impression in some way, with a loose theme each week.

I have a note: journalists shouldn’t post AI slop in a time of national crisis

Remember, when Vance was caught spewing racist lies that Haitian immigrants were eating people's pets, he admitted that "if I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people, then that's what I'm going to do."

Proudly, openly a liar.

She is aggressively trying to turn the wheel AWAY from the ICE agent. It is her very last action. They provoke her, surround her, then kill her in cold blood. I have barely slept since this happened and I don't think I'll ever stop being angry about this.
i have watched the shooter's video. it's going to make you way the fuck madder.
I have watched the video. I think you probably do not need to watch the video. it shows what you think it's gonna show in terms of lack of justification.

A suburban mom with stuffed animals in the glove box and her dog in the back seat was executed in broad daylight and they're calling her a domestic terrorist. Murderers.

Absolutely incredible that there exists a human with the bullseye perfect expertise for this moment and they are already here and posting. We have the juice.
I have written on this tactic for over a decade. I hold a research grant on vehicle ramming attacks, and I curate what I believe is the largest database of these incidents, over 500 cases worldwide since 1987. 2/7

Names aren't classified, publishing a government higher-up's name is not "doxxing," and journalists are entitled to publish news, even if it is classified, as long as they don't break the law to get it.

It's not the press's job to keep the government's secrets.

Renee Nicole Good was 37. She was murdered by an ICE agent in the street in broad daylight. What really happened to her will not be forgotten, minimized, or ignored.

Remember: Federal officials do not enjoy categorical, absolute immunity from state-level prosecutions. They are entitled to removal to federal court. But conduct that is unreasonable or unnecessary for the execution of their law enforcement duties is susceptible to criminal prosecution.

There's a lot of tech companies that purchased the naming rights to sporting arenas, like the Intuit Dome in California or the Lenovo Center in North Carolina.
I'm surprised that Microsoft hasn't followed this trend, but I'm also not sure the world is ready for LinkedIn Park.

I've got a magazine subscription that I wanted to change to digital delivery only, but I can't manage my subscription online *at all*, so I've cancelled instead.

I’m not sure why I feel compelled to write in my free time, when I already spend my work day writing, but:

I’m starting a blog!

It’s like a podcast, but for people who prefer reading.

RIP Microsoft Office, 1990-2026, apparently killed by the "Copilot" brand assuming www.office.com is accurate

Truly, the ways and wiles of Microsoft's branding team are beyond human comprehension

I finished Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones!

Funny thing, I beat my first Fire Emblem game two winters ago in quarantine after getting COVID on a business trip, and now I think I just associate winter with Fire Emblem.

Doing a bit of winter cleaning, and I'm struggling to bring myself to throw out some old glasses I owned from 5-10 years ago. My prescription hasn't changed too much in that time, but I don't wear them (and probably won't again).

Christmas tips for new builders:

1. Your monitor probably does not connect to your motherboard.
2. Weird issues with a 4K or high refresh monitor? Try a certified DP cable before anything else.
3. Don't forget to set your refresh rate.
4. "x" is the best pattern for thermal paste.

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.
