Great, now we also need the peer-review option and every post by an academic will be delayed by two to three years (or just desk-rejected by the moderation team).
v1.116 is rolling out now!

For all the overthinkers and perfectionists out there, we're launching Drafts.

Such an insane story. "They had an argument and then he wanted to show her his gun and it 'accidentally' went off right next to her face but he couldn't remember the details because he had been drinking". Fundamentally evil.

"AI is leading to incredible breakthroughs in medicine!"

The breakthroughs:
When AI was added to a tool for sinus surgery: “Cerebrospinal fluid leaked from one patient’s nose. In another… a surgeon mistakenly punctured the base of a patient’s skull. In two other cases, patients suffered strokes after a major artery was accidentally injured”

Hard not to read this and feel that what @bardcollege.bsky.social president Leon Botstein found morally urgent and emotionally effecting in the Epstein story was not the women and girls who were abused, but the rich man who was embarrassed.

“Okay, I know it looks bad that I turned to a convicted sex trafficker to fund my dual research on how climate change is a hoax and why it’s genetically advantageous for women to mate with middle-aged academics instead of Black men but you see, Epstein had all the money and I wanted some."
Nine More Higher Ed Names in the Epstein Files
Through coffees, phone calls and private flights, at least nine more academics are linked to Jeffrey Epstein in the latest disclosure of documents from the Justice Department.

One of the reasons why there are so many professors in the Epstein files is arguably because the long right-wing project of undermining higher education enabled them, not just by turning a blind eye to sexual misconduct but by incentivizing academics to seek out private funding
It feels like it's been impossible to get people outside of higher ed to understand that eliminating staff/programs/majors is primarily an ideological project, whatever claims are made about finances.

What's happened at the Post is what's been happening in higher ed for ages.

Isn't it super random that all of the "anti-woke" cancel culture academics who all leaned into transphobia and race science later in their careers all seem to be connected through Jeffrey Epstein?

Bad Bunny isn't an immigrant.

This shit is cooked through. 150 years of being a newspaper and now you're a 4chan comment thread.
The Super Bowl halftime show, with Bad Bunny showcasing Latin music before a global television audience expected to top 100 million, will illustrate the nation’s immigration divide whether or not the reggaeton star delivers an explicit political message.
