this little one takes the train to school, & he starts from the same premise as rabid far-right commentators—it’s a problem that there are so many unhoused people on the subway—but he asks a very different question: how can we help these neighbors live good lives & not have to stay in the subway? 🩷
Two weeks ago I spent the whole day at the Museum of the Moving Image to listen to New Yorkers. This is what Liam shared with me.

This is genuinely horrifying. Fact-free far-right agitprop given accolades by credible media across the political spectrum.

“While the Senate is expected to block the measure, advocates warn the House vote will still have consequences—normalizing criminal penalties for standard medical care and setting the stage for further federal and administrative efforts to restrict transgender healthcare nationwide.”
“Three Democrats—Henry Cuellar (TX), Vicente Gonzalez (TX), and Don Davis (NC)—crossed party lines to vote in favor of the felony ban, siding with Republicans to criminalize providers and potentially parents involved in transgender youth care.” www.erininthemorning.com/p/breaking-m...
MTG's Felony National Youth Trans Ban Passes House; 3 Dems Vote For It, 4 GOP Vote Against It
The bill is not expected to pass the Senate, but marks the first time a national trans youth care ban has passed a chamber of Congress.

If the ACA subsidies are saved, it will be due to @kamalaharris.com being the nominee in 2024 instead of Biden and saving dozens of Democratic House seats that would have been lost had he remained the nominee. She never gets any credit for this.
BOOM!! That's 218!

Ryan MacKenzie is the 4th House GOP member to sign on.

We have a clean 3-year extension vote in the House, folks!

Letters going into the 1922 moment!
it really feels like the end is near for Mike Johnson's speakership after a critical mass of House Republicans this morning forced a vote on ACA subsidies over his resistance

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

I think some of the discussion about the redistricting wars misses is that they’re not really about 2026 anymore

save for an unprecedented exogenous event, Dems will win the house next year

But in 2028, every seat gained or lost could end up being the decisive one
