How to make pancakes the british way:
Step 1: remember it's pancake day
Step 2: work all day because you are a cog in the capitalism nightmare machine
Step 3: Too tired to make pancakes
Step 4: no pancakes for you

BBC coms not really working _that_ hard to keep the glee out of their voices and maintain professional balance. #AUSvSL

Notably hungover, I spilt a cup of coffee on a seat on the tube from Brixton one morning into work soaking the upholstery. Someone sat in it and got off at Victoria in consternation at their wet trousers.

In Zahawi's vision of a safer and happier Britain, I'm in Belmarsh.
Nadhim Zahawi thinks London is now unsafe, because the other day a tired-looking man walked past him during the morning rush hour.

Drove one follower to what? Drink? I bet it's drink... Or maybe reconsider their life choices and turn off LinkedIn?

Definitely the latter and then the former.

I'm sorry, but That's Life! is not "the magazine that shaped America". It's the BBC telly juggernaut that shaped consumer regulation in the 80s.

Such is the ingrained assumption that Tories are bastards but competent, it can only be that they’re deliberately moving to fascism. Rather than being really really crap. This Lab government has shattered any such illusions that might have existed for them.
Starmer is firing the most senior civil servant, just as he was about to embark on overseeing compliance with the humble address requiring disclosure of lots of No 10 documents.

If a Tory govt had done that we would be drowning in "we are on threshold of fascism" articles

The daft thing about Starmer is I think if he was honest about who he is - soft left, socially liberal, strong on law and order, believes in strong borders but also compassionate to those in need, leans left on the economy Labour members would be right behind him.

1. It was not an accident.
2. It was not a staffer.
3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

A good few people saying that the Starmer conduct is nothing like as bad as Johnson and his successors.

Well, true. But it’s the old one of dog bites man isn’t news, but man bites dog is.

No-one credible thought Johnson capable of being better. Starmer was the sensible guy who bloody well should.

The blunt truth is that if Karen Pierce had been a man, then she would still be US ambassador now and Keir Starmer's government would not be on the brink of death.

If there's an Alan Beattie out there from Northern Ireland who's reported a loose manhole cover to the NI Department for Infrastructure, they've emailed me to say they receive a high volume of ironwork related enquiries and unfortunately it is not possible to investigate all enquiries immediately.

Coincidence that it's on the same day as the French raid? Or is this evidence of back-room coordination? Would like to think latter, presume it's former.
Information Commissioner launches formal investigation in X / Grok over use of people's personal data to create sexual images of children without consent. (The government will continue to post through it, no doubt.)

Does anyone have/know where there's an up-to-date dataset on ULEZ vandalism? Struggling a bit with the Met Police interface. @jim.londoncentric.media, @davehillonlondon.bsky.social wondering if you might know?
This was a minor story on London news this morning - but suspect is a real cautionary (and alarming) tale of an older man getting radicalised online.
