In the current AI-cover kerfuffle, I just thought I'd say that The Emotion Dealer and other stories has a 100% organic cover by wonderful Canterbury artist Henry Turner, and also you can buy it now www.nationwidebooks.co.nz/product/The-...
It exists in physical form! THE EMOTION DEALER AND OTHER STORIES is only two months away from launch! Check out how great it looks!

Clearing out shit is stressful, because a significant reason I kept the amount of junk I have is that it's all fucking plastic and I feel guilty

Repost for the weekday crowd.
What should I do with the Harry Potter books that, having been transported from my childhood bedroom, are taking up valuable shelf space and making the vibes just that bit worse?

There's a reason I don't talk to one of my brothers anymore.
I *do* judge people who decide to grab a buck or two off of being a bigoted asshole. The Grift Turn is a hard one to square.

OK, the Gay Hockey Show ruined me by having a first episode that allowed me to suspend disbelief and now every time they do something that does not happen in sports (or like, concussions) I am annoying my friend by saying "Yeah, that's not happening."

Watching the Gay Hockey Show and I just had to educate my Gen Z friend on why the two different cuts of that one T.A.T.U song is so fucking funny.

Really lovely review today from Angelique Kasmara who has accurately summed up my collection as 'humans failing badly at living with technology'.

This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.

Fake council signs pop up around Christchurch – and the real council is delighted
The official looking signs have been appearing around the city, but the person responsible calls it "well-behaved mischief".

Floating on my back in Lake Taupō, the water still and cool, the sunset overhead turning the sky all shades of dusky pink and orange. The only sound was the occasional magpie warbling. I had never been so perfectly alone as that evening.
What's a charming memory you have from the worst period of the pandemic?

I've been at Condor 7s the past four days and honestly, it's been amazing. I had a pretty bad rugby season for various reasons and being able to finish it off with some great people and a really solid performance feels so good.

In my 12 years of driving, I had never been breathalysed until this week, where I was stopped twice - once on Wednesday and once on Saturday. Looks like BOP are going hard on it.
