I live a richly varied life.

Yesterday NJ Transit canceled the train before mine, so I had to stand for an hour.

Today is SEPTA, where my train broke down, the train behind it was canceled, and traffic means my hour-long Uber ride will get me in too late to do the thing I wanted to do.

I’m getting a kick out of this series of videos where she builds jazzy harmonies in looped audio, but she begins counterintuitively with the wackiest accidental-heavy harmony lines (at the bottom), and only in the last pass does she add the soprano melody, at which point it all comes together.

DEAR JACK LYNCH,

The check below for [improbably large amount] reflects a cash offer for your property.

(In small print: “This is not a real check and does not constitute an offer to purchase your property.”)

Thrillers became taut in the late ’40s, and have always been tauter than stylish. They were at their stylishest in the late ’90s; since then taut has had its ups and downs, but thrillers are unambiguously out of style.
