My cousin's husband, Abu Shadi, was renowned as one of the most famous kunafa sellers in Gaza. His kunafa was not only delicious and authentic but also affordable. He fondly referred to his kunafa as "the Poor's Kunafa.", He was killed along with my cousin, their children, and grandchildren.

Bro I’m gonna have to stop you there, I am angry about so many things all of the time, I have never in my life been angry about just one thing at a time, my capacity for “things to be angry about” is as wide and as deep as the sea

If you value Amtrak, let your Representative know. The House will vote this week on a bill (H.R. 4820) that will significantly slash funding for passenger rail, including a 92 percent reduction in funds to the Northeast Corridor (NEC), the busiest rail corridor in the Western Hemisphere.

My undergrads seem quite convinced that they need to "go to graduate school" ASAP and I've been trying to convince them to work for a bit first. For those who do graduate school admissions (at any level), is this right??

You mean not everyone organizes their books by library of congress call number like my partner insisted on for years?
This is a fun one. I asked 29,000 Americans how they primarily organize their books.

- 29% don't organize their books
- 22% sort by genre
- 19% alphabetize
- 3% sort by color

But it turns out this depends HEAVILY on how many books you own. My story: today.yougov.com/society/arti...

I'm currently a graduate teaching assistant for an undergrad course, Sociology of Sexualities, and my students are simply delightful. They are sweet, kind, curious, and generous. Just sharing in case someone needed to hear about them today.

My mom asked me about Israel/Hamas today and I started to run away. But then she asked how to spot propaganda and it sparked a productive conversation about Zionism as a politics and a logic but not a religion. She settled on "if it's using Zionism as logic, be skeptical." Progress?

I am going to lose my mind.

The people equating Hamas and all Gazans are elected officials with considerable power over how many of the latter are killed.

The people upholding Hamas are random college students.

One unexpected thing in my qualitative study w natural scientists (one-hour interviews) is how deeply, deeply sad the climate scientists are. They say things like "you have enough information from us, why won't anyone act?" -- the psychological distress these people are enduring is very great.

when wikipedia launched, the idea that an encyclopedia could be reliably maintained by the public was a joke. now, it's a marvel, a remarkable resource, virtually the only website that remotely delivers on its potential and practically the last pleasant browsing experience on the internet.

I'm thinking about these repercussions daily. Knowing what I know about trauma, trying to let it move through my body so that it has an exit strategy. Light lightning. But I fear it's just too much.

BREAKING: With the cost-of-living adjusments in the UAW deal with Ford, autoworkers wIll get raises of 33 PERCENT over four years, not just the 25% wage hike the deal calls for

That's far more than the modest 6% raise in the UAW's 2019 deal with Detroit's automakers

The starting wage will jump 68%
