Just finished Everything Everywhere All at Once and in the third act it felt like the movie was pre-emptively lecturing me for not enjoying it's tumblr comic reddit old spice whimiscal sense of humor, or for finding neat-and-tidy mega-happy-endings to feel a bit fake or hollow.

I think my problem with that kind of, for lack of a precise term, [heckin wholesome smol bean positivity New Sincerity whimsey]-thing is that I find it fundamentally condescending. Like my preference of affectations or aesthetics makes me a bad person. Like melancholy is just a Bad Dumb Decision.
