As a criminal law professor, it’s truly unpleasant knowing that almost none of your students will become defence lawyers because they need to pay back loans. It actually plays a significant role in my decision of where to teach.

This is so absurd. Over the summer I sent a FOIA to Cincinnati PD for information about the cops who killed 18yo Ryan Hinton. TMK they’ve never ID’d the officers and used Marsy’s Law to deny producing names because some subset of them were “victims.”
