When you succumb to the cynicism, you are helping Trump. He wants you to think that all is lost, that he is all powerful, and that there is nothing we can do.

The fight for democracy is hard, but it is worth having. We have shown we can stand tall. We have shown we can win.
Many of you have become drama-addicted doomers, and you seem to think it's important for the rest of us to join you.

Yes, things are bad. But change is within our power. Grow up. Act like sober, responsible adults in a democracy instead of cynical, all-is-lost teenagers.

Now get off my lawn.

We evacuated our kids out of Minneapolis this weekend and my spouse reports that as she drove them out of town she saw "multiple freeway exits where people are being pulled over." It feels like the Twin Cities is being subjugated by a hostile occupying force.

When Renee Good said "I'm not mad at you" what the ICE goon heard was "I'm not scared of you."

That's what enraged him. The populace wasn't fully terrorized and cowed into submission yet, so he acted to make that happen.

100+ kind, caring, & fired up locals came downtown on this chilly Friday in #PrescottAZ to act in #solidarity ✊ with demonstrations nationwide opposing the inhumane, cruel, depraved policies of the current president and his enablers.

I need people to wrap their minds around the fact that here in Minneapolis, ICE broke the window of a vehicle yesterday, pepper sprayed the occupants, and arrested them, and shot another observer in the face today, and OBSERVERS ARE STILL GOING OUT TO PROTECT THEIR NEIGHBORS AT MASSIVE PERSONAL RISK
I’m eating lunch, I’m having a panic attack, I’m charging my phone, and then I’m going back out to try and keep my neighborhood safe.

I hate being the character in the movie who senses that a really bad thing is about to happen but who can’t convince most other people to believe her.

Wholeheartedly agree with @radiofreetom.bsky.social here, we can do this 💯

Who are the stakeholders that will form a “new American coalition”strong enough to get it done?
Hard, hard disagree. You do not need a constitutional amendment to abolish ICE or disestablish DHS. We can do this - but not this year. A new American coalition can do it, but it'll be long after this bunch of soulless opportunists are flushed from government.
Of course, none of this is going to happen. Abolishing ICE is about as likely as fixing the electoral college.

No surprise there, everything she says is incredibly irresponsible.

Fact based reality simply doesn’t matter to a certain segment of the population. 🤷🏼‍♂️
I know they’re trying to turn this shooting into Dealey Plaza with their desperate camera angles and excuses for the murderous ICE officer but how do they explain the subsequent refusal to allow a doctor to reach the car? And lying that they already had medics there? All on tape.

Samuel Alito flew two flags used by insurrectionists.

Clarence Thomas' wife plotted to overturn the 2020 election.

Both justices refused to recuse themselves from SCOTUS cases related to the January 6th plot.

It's a stain on our nation that this has effectively been forgotten.

We cannot forget who was complicit on January 6th.

Ted Cruz fanned the flames of insurrection.

Ken Paxton provoked the rioters before the assault.

John Cornyn refused to investigate the attack.

They have forfeited their right to represent us in our nation’s Capitol.

We cannot move forward together as a nation until we reconcile what happened 5 years ago today. As of today there are still way too many who really *don't want to* move forward together as a nation.
This will blow your mind, but even the "anti-anti" conservative media are completely ignoring the 5th anniversary of January 6th. Apparently none of their audience cares about democracy, honor, and the US Constitution. I'm shocked.

On this 5-year anniversary of January 6th, let’s all remember that we are not immune from coups and insurrections. We are not immune from authoritarianism. Preventing them from happening in the U.S. requires all of us pay attention and do something to protect democracy.
