To me, this seems like an example of AI for its own sake, and I'm terrified that AI is happening so fast and so thoughtlessly that workers are unironically asking, "If I didn't use AI, was I even working?" /🧵

Writers: before you sign a contract with a publisher, make sure AI isn't replacing your illustrator, your translator, your editor, your jacket designer. Readers: if you're thinking of buying a book, do the same. Refuse. Resist. If AI garbage doesn't sell, people will stop making it.

Unhoused people are freezing. Kids are starving. Many pressing issues.

As I'm looking around at...all of this...I find myself wondering: would my life now be different if [traumatic event] didn't happen? As a two-spirit, indigiqueer, neurodivergent person, I don’t think things would change much. The systems are oppressing as they were designed to.

Queerness isn't the issue. It's the way conservatives and "centrists" treat queer people. Ask me how I know.
I'll keep saying it until people in power start listening:
It's not social media that is primarily causing mental health issues for young people.
It's the material economic conditions they face and then see/express on SM that causes it. (healthcare worries, cost of living, unaffordable rent etc)

One of the most prominent voices boosting policies like Meta's sensitive content restrictions is NYU professor Jonathan Haidt, whose dubious book, The Anxious Generation falsely ties social media use to teen mental health issues in order to push a moral panic about kids and technology use.
