So much of our present crisis is coddled, ignorant, and short sighted people tearing down the institutions that protect them because they don’t understand that bad things can happen.

This is totally non-standard for any publication. Every pub everywhere pretty much cleans up uhms, uhm, and vocal tics like that, which EVERYONE DOES.

This is extremely intentional.

If I was writing this I’d probably do the quote “this is of course a very longstanding policy of the United States”
Have you ever once seen the New York Times quote Trump like this?

Promising headline that completely overstates what is expressed in the actual text

Discord's response can be summed up to saying they're aware of the ethical and security problems, but they're not doing anything of substance to protect or respect users, and will make zero substantial policy changes

STARMER’S LABOUR: THE MOST ANTI-LGBT+ GOVT SINCE THATCHER

A list of the government's shameful LGBT+ record – especially when it comes to attacking trans people.

Updated for the second time in two months because there have been six or seven things to add since January alone.

Neither Gabriel nor the Times are shocked by this behaviour: they stridently participated in it, hand in hand with the very same organisation. They are now upset because a junior member idiotically turned the same tactics on them. But all of these people are guilty of this exact same bullshit.

Everyone knows that a junior dickhead compiling a dumb dossier on the man who wrote this insulting drivel is *exactly the same thing*, but one of these stories makes the press look like virtuous victims while the other exposes them as a blight upon the species. Naturally they go with the former.

Labour Together compiled dossiers of Facebook comments by internet randoms and passed them to Gabriel as proof Labour was horribly racist, *while also* running a sock-puppet fact-checking organisation that told the same paper it was insanely racist to say that Labour Together had done that.

i have said this before but among chatterton’s many problems as a “thinker” is that he doesn’t

Franzi Schimmer captured this Grizzly bear in Brooks Falls, Alaska just floating along, tippy-tapping down the river, browsing the salmon.

Prior to hibernation, up to 40% of a bear's body mass is fat, which is less dense than water (~0.9 g/cm^2), so the murder-monster is also a floaty-boaty.

The Greens are significantly more "soft" or centre left than I am but I support them bc they are the compromise & Labour is a rightwing party
the greens are basically a centre-left party

@lucympowell.bsky.social and keir starmer describing them as *extreme* left says more about how far the labour party has strayed from their core values than it says about the greens

it really doesn't say anything about the greens
