Just heard on the latest Realms Unknown podcast that "A passion for passion" by @alicefraser.bsky.social is now available for purchase in hardcover in a way for which the author will actually get some money. So I immediately ordered a copy. Cue excited monitoring of mailbox.

I bought the original MDF kit in 2018 and immediately set to rebuilding it from scratch, learning how to steam-shape wood, mill brass, and so on. And so now, a paltry 8 years later, the wagon itself is finished, made from walnut and brass (treated with linseed oil to bring out the grain).

Almost certainly the best thing I was ever told about owls was when I met an owl handler at an owl sanctuary and he told me that the wild owls who lived near the sanctuary worried about the tame show owls there and sometimes stopped by to leave them shrews and mice as presents.

I think we talked about this the other day: Construction workers discovered two unexploded WWII bombs about 600 metres away from where I am typing this. The bombs will be defused this afternoon; about 4,000 people have to be temporarily evacuated. This is considered a normal occurrence.
