Here I wonder, did Schumer talk to his actual caucus, or did he talk to imaginary friends Albie and Francine, a couple of caucus members that he made up in his head to represent how "totally, totally troubled" he thinks the caucus would be?

New York, primary and get rid of this clown.
Press call with Chuck Schumer says he has been talking with his caucus "I've been talking to so many members of my caucus today. Everybody is very, very just totally, totally, totally troubled."

there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

10-15 years ago, if any company made a product that did even half of the horrors GenAI has been doing in the last year, they would have been rendered worthless and shut down.

But in our bizarro world of a pre-depression economy based solely on insane tech speculators, they're just doubling down.

The fun thing about being neuodivergent, depending on your flavor, is that in some cases, tasks that take other people hours might take you 30 minutes because of how your brain is wired.
...
And tasks that literally take 20 minutes to complete might take you 2 weeks to a month to actually get done.

Wow, my country is attacking and digitally hobbling people for ... *checks notes* doing the jobs they were assigned for justice around the world.

We're just a big criminal conspiracy now, thanks to a third of us becoming Nazis and another third of us apathetically letting them take control.

this is such an important thing to recognize and call out

the fascism is mostly done being nice at this point, but it got here through well dressed men politely asking questions while the rest of us were scolded for pointing out where those questions led

What we need: Democrats that will use every ounce of power and procedure to stymie Trump and the new reich he's building for the white rich with his Republican cronies. Dems that will fight to a stalemate if nothing else.

What we're getting:

Remember, this is the first step towards denaturalizing people who were born here for any arbitrary reason Christian Nationalists can drum up.
And they've already outsourced a concentration camp (CECOT in El Salvador) that The Heritage Foundation is salivating to send anyone that won't obey them.

This should be against several laws. Amazon should not be allowed to do this in any way.

For shoppers, even if you use Amazon to find new products of a type, always, ALWAYS search for a way to buy it from the maker directly. You give the actual creator more money and avoid Amazon's shady practices.
I just found out that our stuff is being sold on Amazon - WITHOUT our consent or any ability to opt out bc Amazon is just scraping artist’s websites and putting our shit in their search results. Again, without our permission.

1. This is not fighting "global infertility" because there's no such thing. It's just psychotic narcissism.
2. Dude acting AND looking like an 80's Bond villain is too much. Who keeps carelessly using that Last Action Hero ticket to bring the worst, over-the-top movie characters into the real world?

Liberal pundits trying to suddenly act like MTG is an ally just because she stopped fangirling over Trump when she's still a fascist racist who literally just pushed an anti-trans, anti-human rights bill through the House is pretty beyond the pale.

Enjoy their infighting, but don't welcome them.

Business in a sane world: "We made a product that people want, and it sold really well! Our profits are up and we're reinvesting some of it into new developments while giving bonuses to all the people that made this possible. Thanks for a great year, everyone! Keep up the good work!"

Remember when the valuation of a company might have a shred of something to do with the product they were actually creating that had a real demand and wasn't just complete weird, outlandish speculation of the wealthy gaming and trying to make a nothing burger get them short-term gains?

I keep catching strays from "technology is neutral" people, so let's set things straight.

1) Technology is not neutral, especially the subset of technology called "algorithms"
2) The form-factor that makes a technology into a tool is not neutral
3) How tools are productized is not neutral

The 2026 National Parks pass features fuckface's face on it which makes me want to vomit. Apparently it makes a LOT of people want to vomit, so a clever Colorado artist had a solution: www.thesageleafstudio.com/products/nat...

Seems to me if voting didn’t matter the people who benefit most from the destruction of democracy wouldn’t be trying so hard to demolish democracy
USPS quietly changed its postmark rules — mail is no longer dated when you drop it off. The “official” date is when it hits automated sorting — sometimes days later

Which could have major implications for mail in voting — it’s a clever way to disenfranchise voters that’s going largely overlooked

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides

You constantly hear how much more polarized we are now, and that’s obviously true, but that is presented as everyone is split right down the middle moderate instead of “65-80% of the country is held hostage by a diamond-dense (in every sense of the term) minority block of guns and money”

Keep sharing and putting the segment up in places and be sure to show it to Boomer relatives who keep being in willful denial about what the US is doing.

Also, if you have Paramount+, cancel that and be sure to name Bari Weiss and her assault on journalism as one of your reasons.

Okay real talk, the only sense in which GenAI is "here to stay" is that even after the bubble pops, AI is digital asbestos that is poisoning everything and we'll probably be picking the detritus out of everywhere it's ended up for years, assuming there's a will to remove it en masse that is.

Depending on what you want to say, you can do it pretty quickly. Every bit of our voices helps this.
SFWA members and general SFF community:

Feedback from writers is strongly welcomed in the survey.
