Great to see politicians active in newer social networks and microblogging platforms.
I’ve lost count of the number of times people have said to me, “I’m just tired of chasing.”

This week’s Echo column is about those stories: those people who keep pushing, the barriers they shouldn’t have to face, and how residents' experiences shape the work I'm doing — locally, and in Parliament.

For all those who want to point out that it’s just a parody account…

The folks on X aren’t taking it as parody. They’re taking it as authentic.

And that’s exactly what the Crewkerne account wants. It isn’t going to be prosecuted for inciting CW.

Prosecutions will be for those who cite them.

It's worth noting that multiple opinion polls and surveys over the past 5 years show that there is a very strong majority in the UK in support of mutual Freedom of Movement with the EU.

I love the idea that governments have to stay on Twitter because that's where "their audience" is.

Like if you only announced your cabinet reshuffles on Bluesky Harry bloody Cole wouldn't make an account to read about it.

Well done to the US for heroically deterring Russia and China from considering regime change abroad by doing it themselves and suffering absolutely no consequences whatsoever up to and including having their allies fall short of actually criticizing them for it.

In 1887, British forces kidnapped & exiled the King of Opobo in today’s Nigeria. British Palm oil traders had persuaded the government that the tariffs he imposed restricted their profits. It was a milestone in the Scramble for Africa and indirect rule by Britain.

Now, all Russia does is express concerns and condemnations.

So a lot of the charges against Maduro are either cocaine importation, which Trump pardoned Hernandez for, or owning machine guns, which is a constitutionally protected right in the US

As it happens, I have experience with high-level government demands to stop an explosive, accurate story from running, and I also have experience with 60 Minutes spiking a story I was involved in, so I have thoughts about the travesty at CBS. If you want some journalism anecdotes, here are a lot:

And threatens whistleblowers, regulators and even the police who try to stop it?
