The @anzca.bsky.social “PG28 Guideline on infection prevention
and control in anaesthesia 2025” now states that sterile gowns are not required for all single shot spinals.
This could reduce a significant amount of waste.

Explain delirium in accessible terms: "The brain isn't processing information normally right now."

This helps families understand why repeating basics about what is going on, as well as being reassuring over and over again, can help the person experiencing #delirium.

Emergency Department (ED) staff: screen ALL patients over 65 for delirium.

Emergency departments are where it's most missed and most dangerous.

Make it as routine as checking blood pressure.

Australia is metric and we still say “ a few inches”!
How do you know how far to reposition your patient!?

"Around 6 inches"?

"a smidge"?

(Sparrows farts are used for time from first light or dawns crack)
(Warhols are used specifically to refer to fame moments)

Iain we did use "grain, pennyweight and troy ounce" but these were superseded in the 1970s by the drachm and scruples. Of course we now use "heaps, loads, shit loads, fuck loads and Sydney Harbours", lengths are "country miles, kays(klicks), stones throws, fanny hairs, bees dicks and poofteenths"

My response to one surgeon who *always* requested a smidge was to ask if it was metric or imperial
