🇩🇪🇺🇦 Merz: I want to say very clearly: the end of this war is only possible with the full consent of Ukraine.

Wars cannot be ended in a way that great powers decide over the heads of those directly affected by the aggression.

This war can only be stopped with the consent of Ukraine and Europe.

An absolute scandal compounded in this case by failure of French government and EU institutions to forcefully react and sanction in turn those who have sanctioned ICC judges and prosecutors. Makes a total mockery of FR/EU's repeated commitment to the rule of law/ICC

Having Johnson & Cummings in Downing Street when Covid struck was, just like Brexit, an entirely avoidable disaster caused largely by utterly appalling journalism. And now exactly the same clowns, arses & bigots with bylines are rolling out the red carpet for Farage.

“How many refugees have been granted asylum in the UK?”

Most people overestimate the number - by a lot. With far-right figures spreading misinformation, it’s hard for the public to know the truth.

Watch the video to see just how wide the gap is between perception and reality.

I agree. I was impressed and encouraged by your words on BBC Radio 4 Today this morning, Monday 17 Nov.
The Prime Minister said in September that we are at a fork in the road. These asylum proposals suggest we have taken the wrong turning.

The idea that recognised refugees need to be deported is wrong.

People in glass houses? Michael Prescott, author of the infamous ‘Prescott Memo’, accuses the BBC of “splicing” Trump’s words in a way that caused viewers to be “materially misled”. But the Murdoch hack turned corporate lobbyist has been engaging in a bit of “splicing” of his own.
Not only that, Prescott misquoted Trump in his email, without indicating the changes he was making, to make the quote seem less threatening.
Why isn't THAT front page news in the Telegraph?

Labour’s latest attack on asylum seekers is cruel & counterproductive. How does it help community cohesion to hold threat of deportation over vulnerable people? We don’t need an arms race with the hard right over asylum, we need safe routes & European cooperation #bbclaurak

Deep breath, once more for those at the back, seeking asylum is not illegal. No matter route used, which considering Labour has closed pretty much all the last remaining alternatives means irregular ones.
Anti-immigration sentiments are stoked by politicians like Mahmood, not people seeking safety.
