Watched The Siege (1998) last night.

It was a bit of a memory hole for me and I wasn't sure if it was over the top or obscenely prescient.

It does end with Hollywood joy as the bad guys are dead and an evil general is arrested.

But feck if it isn't Andor-like in reading history /holding a mirror

Casino Royale was a hard reboot and it made little to no illusions to being the same character as any of the previous films.

GoldenEye was also a soft reboot that was less connected to the previous actors.

Dr. No to License to Kill is vaguely the same continuity, that can't continue.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Lots of memes and reels/til toks recently for the 50th anniversary of the ship wreck made famous by a folk song, the Edmund Fitzgerald.

I recently watched this impeccable and respectfully made long form documentary on the history of the ship and it's sinking.

twitter being bought and turned into a propaganda machine for fascism, which is directly pumped into every journalist in the world's brain, is one of the worst things to happen in the last few years. we might not survive it.
I'm guessing the BBC 'scandal' has been big on X this week as this was the first I had heard of it...

This fundamental truth needs to be retold by more good-faith politicians. We are confronted with complex, wicked problems in which seemingly unrelated aspects of our challenges are deeply interconnected. The poor and marginalised will be hit hardest by the consequences of climate change.

I consume a lot less tv news and a lot less British news (since Brexit), but these BBC resignations look like they stink a little.

Clipping the orange man's words closer together to imply incitement to insurrection is hardly that bad really...

Smells more like a push to change bias/ leadership

Verstappen started in the pit lane in 19th place and the whole grid has basically stepped out of the way or barely put up a fight.

He's in 4th and has already put under a safety car thanks to a puncture.

There's luck, and there's talent and he's nipping and McLaren's break lights.

WATCH: Seriously, if you’re following ANY bike-lane debate, you HAVE TO WATCH this news story. You actually can’t make this up. Ford claims without evidence that bike-lanes are bad for small business, and THE ACTUAL BUSINESS ASSOCIATION obliterates him with data.

Safe bike-lanes mean business.
Annex businesses tell Ford to back off Bloor bike lanes
Stores in the Annex say the Bloor bike lanes have been a big boost to business. As Michelle Mackey reports, the neighborhood's BIA wants the province to back off its new bill that could see the lanes ...

When people ignorantly label "cyclists" as entitled for wanting equitable infrastructure, just remember, they're oppressing people with mobility challenges as well with that rhetoric.
Protected cycle tracks are not just for cyclists, they allow more freedom for those with mobility issues

Watching the World Championship Warhammer Preview stream.

Sadly the microphones for the hosts are really quiet and there's none on the crowd.

But I'm not here for that, give me some sweet previews!

Two years ago I interviewed a 31-year-old NY state assemblymember about a 7-year-old girl killed by an SUV driver in his district. I hung up the phone, astonished that I'd talked to a legislator who so thoughtfully articulated what actually needs to change on our streets.

He'll make a great mayor
