capping a week of stories about elite depravity with a story about a journalist who broke basically every possible ethical rule (and was rewarded for it) to elevate an unqualified wealthy failson who is trying to destroy american public health is, well, it's a lot, tbh

Remember when, after 2016 when literally any inane trivia contained in a hacked email provided by Russian intelligence was considered per se newsworthy, in 2024 the media decided without explanation that publishing hacked emails would be wrong? www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2024/08/poli...

As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

The Times literally pulled their top Clinton reporter off the beat to join several other reporters to pore through the mind-numbing trivia from John Podesta's inbox, resulting in zero stories of any substantive or prurient interest
This is the Challenger Disaster of ethics in media.

We're so thrilled to be able to announce that Cassette Beasts has sold over *1.1 MILLION units*!

We started out as a tiny team hoping we might be lucky enough to sell even a fraction of that - for every share, review, or positive comment, we really can't thank all of you enough. 💜

both All-Star starters went on to win Cy Youngs that year (1 CYA per league since 1967):

Skenes: all 1st-place votes
Sanchez: all 2nd-place votes

Since the BBWAA went to a five-player ballot format for the Cy Young Award in 2010, this is the first time the winner received all the first-place votes and the runner-up all the second-place votes

This is one of several related "messaging" issues that bedevils our politics.

Centrists and the left *both* often talk as if one magic policy platform will solve the electoral woes of Dems and it's just never been that simple. It's a comms issue. It's vibes. It's a nebulous mood.
something that the dems have always struggled with (for at least 15 years now) is that the public doesn't believe the GOP is actually like that, it's always a "negotiating tactic" or "just red meat for the base", even if it's literally written GOP platform stuff. anyways:
"the best explanation for 2025 is that voters didn’t know what they were getting with Trump 2.0 last November, but now they do — and they don’t like it." www.gelliottmorris.com/p/seven-data...

new @fangraphs.com: my first look at the just-released 2026 Hall of Fame Contemporary Baseball Era Committee ballot, for candidates whose greatest impact came after 1980. As usual, the omissions are as notable as the inclusions, and now the process has a new wrinkle that could shape future elections

The Dodgers would be nothing and nobody without immigrants. They won this game - and this entire series - because of immigrants. In that sense, they represent the absolute best that this country has to offer.

I hope they remember all this when the White House invitation arrives.
Los Angeles suffered tremendously because of the wildfires. The president of the United States has wanted to make the immigrants who make the city suffer and declared war on the city. But all throughout it, L.A. makes it work daily. It’s a place where people go to make it. LA deserves this.
