This affects you - the audience - more than you think.

Because there are no residual payments on videogames, many actors rely on convention appearances as a replacement income.

Because cons = $, cons have begun expecting talent to make it through YOU (no appearance fee).

You’ve been tip-cultured.
Ask literally any voice actor if they get royalties from the video games they worked on.

They will tell you no. They might even laugh.

Now imagine any developer actively trying to use AI VO to save money wanting to offer something like that.
Also, re: "they get royalties", how much money is that? Does it make up for the lack of continued work?

Paying next to nothing is still "getting paid royalties" but is functionally nothing.

Seems like a good day to promote this charity that buys and forgives medical debt in the United States.

Pretty much all affordability discourse could benefit from just posting this chart.

If you're in the better off America, all the luxury goods you want in excess are for the most part much cheaper. If you're in the poorer America, most of the shit you need to live/grow is more expensive.

Reminder that, unless a creative freelancer has a spouse with a day job that offers health insurance, they likely have an ACA plan. And with the hits to creative industries the past few years, I'm guessing many qualify for subsidies.

Related reminder that comic creators are freelancers.
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

the women in the workplace discourse is very funny because a man who can act normal in an office environment that's predominantly female is absolutely on easy street. it's maybe the best gig anyone in history has had. and yet for many guys it is utterly impossible

Oh my god how DARE we break up the crushing monotony of life with sinful pastries AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK.
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

Don't engage them, just block and move on.

I'll say it again, they follow us around because when they don't have a target and only each other, they eat each other like rats in a bag.
I expect they're going to break records for the number of blocks on here

Heard the most depressing piece of ad copy today for the (redacted) web builder while listening to a podcast:

"Say what you will about AI - it's here."

Is...is that really all you've got??

This is why, more and more, I just can't muster up any desire to be a success in the mainstream art world. They want AI to make "content" for people who don't care.

I care about my art, and I want to give it to an audience who cares.

An audience i like and respect.
Blum too. At least find a new way to say "it's here to stay" jfc

Hey all - I have not been posting on social media. It's because it feels BAD. This is not likely to change.

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the 7th episode of Dirty Pair, "愛こそすべて命賭けます逃避行!!" or "Love Is Everything, Betting Their Lives on Elopement", one of the most overtly trans-positive episodes of anime of its era. This was the future they predicted for us in 1985. We can still get there.

Banjo-Kazooie.

I didn't like Clanker, he was too big and covered in boils, AND you had to dive into deep, dirty water to do anything cool in that level.

So I just never unlocked the golden feathers in my first playthrough, haha.
What was the first video game that scared you?

It doesn't have to be a horror game. Maybe you didn't even play it -- plenty of ads freaked me out as a kid.
