also *had* bees and butterlfies. They've moved on until next year.

We got to raise this beautiful dude over the summer.

Been very offline so I can manage the bad shit in front of me and in my community.

But I got married to my partner of 17 years this summer and my garden has lots of bees and swallowtail caterpillars. Beautiful things do still exist.

People are organizing.

My dear friend and fellow grumpy ecosocialist @savewildbees.bsky.social passed away a few days ago. I'm so damned sad.

Please plant native wildflowers. Grow a pollinator patch. Bumblebees are precious and worth all our effort to save.

The Israeli army is facing its biggest refusal crisis in decades
Over 100,000 Israelis have reportedly stopped showing up for reserve duty. While their reasons differ, the scale demonstrates the war’s waning legitimacy.

Who are the climate justice activists/groups most visibly participating in the anti-ICE protests?

Would like to speak with them for a story

pretty irritated, as a professional shit-disturber, by how many people are saying "no, change doesn't happen via shit-disturbing. it happens by sitting on your thumbs passively."

If you’ve never been to a protest and you’re watching coverage with trepidation, I urge you—if you can—to challenge yourself to turn out for one. There’s anger, for sure, but the overwhelming feeling is joy in your community, admiration of your neighbors, and the real power of numbers.

I would like every single person who says people are evil and compliant and deserve bad things (unkindly) to be quiet forever. You are wrong. Sit down.

I mean it - we can win. I'm working with so many people right now fighting displacement and we are winning. We're keeping people housed.

Fighting for each other is how we survive and thrive.
If we fight, I fully believe we can win. It's the not-fighting that I can't handle.

the issue is not just ICE.

we can live free and safe. or we can have police like we have right now.

we cannot do both
LAPD assisted by the Huntington Beach Police just came in full force firing munitions and with Horse support. Someone was trampled. Another has a serious head injury.

As we have seen in the past week in Minneapolis (and are now seeing in Los Angeles), our federal government is actively working against residents in cities like ours.

This is why it’s so vital that state and municipal governments work together to do everything we can to safeguard our residents.

I agree more violence is coming. But I hate the racist undertones of how it’s talked about— implying that poor people will be driven to violent outbursts by tropical heat disregulating their emotions.

Global heating is a result of violent capitalist inequalities; that then causes more violence.
