@alan678.bsky.social's #BirdOfTheDay, #BirdsYouLove, is my oft shared Sweetie Bird. For yrs before my Nov move, she was reliably out my window. I'd sit below and talk out my problems. Her gentle Chup Chups always help. ❤️❤️❤️ I had her inked, and I've added a shot of one of our breakfast chats🪶

I'm so sorry for your loss, Graham 🫂. I haven't got a #WinterRobin as they've mostly migrated, so here's my favourite Robin from last May, #ForJanet

Some days , I find it amazing how many people just keep going in a world where the abusers and bullies still reign and the appeasers still appease (and call appeasement being “grown up”) but thank you to everyone who gives us faith when so often the odds seem so stacked against us

Use the good china!

I found fancy fountain pen inks dried out.

That expensive liquor oxidizes and changes flavor.

The lotion goes rancid.

Drink it, use it, don't save it for a brighter day. Find joy in your world. Grab Grandma's crystal for your morning juice. Don't wait. Life is short.

I hate how common this experience is.

"It doesn't have to be this way."
Hearing that my Black girl-centered research is “just advocacy” and not “rigorous scholarship” is so disappointing.

I don’t believe that; and, that’s what the “premiere” journals in my field (#CounselorEd) are saying in all of my manuscript reviews.

It’s hard not to feel defeated. #AcademicSky

I think we can all agree that life is currently extremely stressful.
Being part of your community and supporting your people is very important.
But make sure to practice self-care as well!
I suggest you go #Birding; 15 minutes in nature will help. #Birds #selfcare #NorthAmerica #StaySafe

This is 100% correct. The lack of N95s in Canada's hospitals reflects the scientific illiteracy of medicine's metastatic management class - the same narrow little pseudoscientific club currently grabbing power over every area where science touches society in the US - and in Canada now too:
🧵: ATTENTION PLEASE: This is your regularly scheduled power grab from the empire-builders in public health. Coming soon to a province near you, control over *everything*.

(but not responsibility - note the important part of health is "perceived health" - they learned at least one thing from COVID)

Billy Van was one of the most gifted comedians in Canadian history.
Through a decades-long career, he proved highly influential in the comedy world.
He is best known for playing nearly every character on The Hilarious House of Frightenstein.
This is his story.

Today is National Bird Day! It's also the final day of the Christmas Bird Count.

What better way to celebrate than by recognizing all of those who participated and contributed to bird conservation? The data collected helps improve our understanding of how birds are doing across Canada.

Also for anyone suggesting Canada is limited in what it can say because of its proximity to and dependence on the US, that didn’t stop Mexico.
"Mexico strongly condemns and rejects the military actions carried out unilaterally ... by armed forces of the United States of America against targets in the territory of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, in clear violation of Article 2 of the [UN] Charter"

Even now, as the US commits the crime of aggression and tries to take over Venezuela, it does not face anything like the response that Russia face for doing the same to Ukraine. Instead, Western leaders are releasing vague statements that let the US off the hook.

No cheating. Reskeet with the most recent picture of your pet.

Sweet P is totally my pet, but she lives outside. We've known each other since March '23 (including her mate), but I recently moved across town and can't see them every day any more.

I miss my Sweetie Birds 😭💔 🪶

My beautiful friend, a nurse, died at 31 last night. Her cancer treatment was delayed because a visitor did not wear a mask and she became terribly ill for weeks with the flu or COVID and following infections. If you're wearing a mask, thank you.
Wrote about how disappointing it is that Jon Stewart punched down on people masking at @motherjones.com, when people should mind their own business and leave mask wearers be. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
