A great article from @thenarwhal.ca highlighting our latest forest report 🌲

Industrial logging has pushed old-growth & primary forests close to the brink. For the sake of forests & our economy, BC must protect the last old growth & transition to sustainable forestry.

A new independent report found that, despite provincial commitments to protect old growth and change course in forest stewardship, endangered forests in BC are now even closer to the brink.

Been wondering what's going on with logging in BC?

Most BCers don't hear about logging very often, ever since mainstream media eliminated their enviro beats in the 1990s

Here's a rundown:

1. BIG LEAK: BC govt suspiciously overestimates how many trees are left
#bcpoli
Leaked report claims B.C. timber harvest is vastly overestimated
An undisclosed report obtained by BIV estimates the province is likely approving twice as much logging than can be sustainably harvested

Bill 33 just passed, to much applause and back-slapping from Team Ford.

Say goodbye to public education in Ontario.

It will follow public healthcare, into the past.

Most people won't understand what has happened until it's all gone.

As intended.

All aspects of bird behaviour are a product of the anatomy and physiology of their brains. Brain anatomy can therefore provide new insights into bird behaviour.

Today at #BOU2025, I will discuss how museum specimens can potentially be used to study bird brains.

The NY Times declined them because they were just too busy hyperventilating over Hillary’s private email server.

The move comes after Microsoft revoked ICC head Karim Khan’s email access when he was sanctioned by the US for the warrant against Netanyahu.

You would think that the 8 GOP Senators who are SO OUTRAGED that Jack Smith subpoenaed their phone records that they want $1 million compensation would bring him in to testify IN A PUBLIC HEARING to explain why he did this. But no, they don’t want to do that. I wonder why?

The fact that this, and every other Trump pardonee who has subsequently broken the law, has not ended Trump's political career, that it barely even registers on the national discourse, underlines just how far we are from a functioning democracy that values accountability.
A man pardoned by Donald Trump for his role in January 6th - he assaulted Capitol Police officers with bear spray & a metal whip - has avoided prison for child sex crimes because of the president’s sweeping pardon, despite pleading guilty to soliciting what he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex
