The NYT gets a mixed grade for this headline. Trump didn't “approve the release” of the Epstein files - he only signed a bill calling for their release. Big difference.

But it deserves credit for nailing the critical point: the bill contains a major “loophole” that could keep many documents secret.

The Philadelphia Inquirer runs this photo and story on page one of its print edition -- with the headline nailing the key irony of Trump's fawning welcome of Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. Nicely done. Let's see how The Washington Post and New York Times did. (1/4)

The Epstein emails have damaged Trump beyond repair, because the public has now seen the gross moral rot behind Trump's presidency and the elites who prop it up (and fawned over a convicted sex creep)

Epstein’s emails are the end of America as they ruined it
If the evil banality of the world's most powerful people exposed in the Epstein emails doesn't cause a revolution, nothing will.

Under Joe Kahn's leadership, @nytimes.com excels at writing "Do Not Read Me" headlines. A "Lost NY" & a "clubby world"...Sigh. Funny how two monsters, Trump & Epstein, operated for decades right under the nose of the NYT.
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

It more important than ever to have your eyes wide open instead of being asleep at the switch.
if i were running for office i would absolutely call my volunteers “the wide awakes,” i would hand out wide awake pins and stickers and hats for people to wear and campaign events would have wide awake banners

This story does a good job mentioning both Vance’s religiosity and conflicts with Christian teachings. It could benefit by backstory. Vance had been agnostic, was married in a Hindu ceremony, and converted to Catholicism just before running for office.

If I were @nbcnews.com or @abcnewsbot.bsky.social I would market aggressively on CBS to move CBS News viewers to them, as CBS goes through major transformation in news standards, perspectives and objectivity. Habits hard to break, but you need to make them earn a new audience for their new product.

This is Trump's America.
"Bovino wants the community to see him as an occupying military commander. Going out of his way to look like the driver of a military operation is part of the attempted subjugation. This is how fascists behave during the consolidation phase of their drive to power."

I’ve been thinking a lot about a new kind of polling I’d like to see. We have polling that measures public opinion, which is obviously important, but I’d love to see a little more empirical work on public knowledge: what do voters know about politics and policy?

Great piece by Adam Serwer of the Atlantic, looking at how Musk and other right-wingers fall in the thrall of the “bad guys” of science fiction, confusing right and wrong, and seeking unlimited power to mete out a justice that serves them.

“... experts say Antifa isn't an organization at all. It's more of a movement of disparately linked people who share an ideology, WHICH IS THAT FASCISM IS BAD.”

Of course he'd love a third term. As president he gets to play golf all the time, makes hundreds of millions of dollars, and avoids ending up in prison for stealing classified information." Best job ever.

Q: "You're not ruling out a third term?"

Trump: "Am I not ruling it out? You'll have to tell me."
