I have never, ever EVER had a canvasser show up in my neighborhood until some Zohran folks stopped by last week.
"Black organizers had noticed gaps in the campaign’s strategy for reaching Black voters. To address them, they led canvasses in working-class Black neighborhoods...By early October, Mamdani had taken a commanding lead over Cuomo among Black voters"

No shit it's impossible to cancel Amazon Prime. The FTC settlement raises once again the question of why large corporations are so intent not just on making honest profit but on screwing loyal customers at every turn. And they wonder why consumers resent them. www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2...

The online retailer will refund $1.5 billion to subscribers to its Prime service as part of a larger settlement over claims it deceived consumers into signing up.

Was really wonderful seeing how Beirut has progressed since the blast. When I visited in 2018, the city was still almost entirely dark at night. Now, even street lamps have their own solar panels. Polycrisis resiliency is possible!!!

Question: Why are many people under the impression that Trump and the awful things he’s doing are popular, even though they’re not?

Answer: America is still a mostly free country where dissent against Trump’s dictatorial ambitions is widespread, but media keeps making it appear as if it’s not.
What the actual fuck.

US Tennis Association: “We ask all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance in any capacity, including ENG [Electronic News Gathering] coverage.”

Hard to convince younger generations, but for decades, Republicans went on and on about how two of the worst things imaginable were (1) state intervention in the market and (2) DC using federal troops against US states; both so bad the people should be ready for armed rebellion in case it happens.

For the US govt partially nationalizing Intel, they didn't pay shareholders for the 10% the state now owns, right?

As far as I can tell, they converted grants to equity. So it's statist intervention + an investor haircut. Though they may get it back in stock price rise due to a corrupt govt boost.
