You choose your leaders and place your trust,
As their lies wash you down and their promises rust
This is a really good idea.
Before we got the water softener I had to wedge the empty descaler packet in the handle of the kettle because I did not trust myself to remember.

Love Rishi, of all people, saying the BBC, “misjudged the nation’s mood, mishandled its people and mismanaged its own processes.” Admittedly, he's an expert on all three counts.😂
Rishi Sunak: We cannot allow the BBC to be captured by factionalism
The corporation enhances Britain’s standing and appeal, but its unique status requires a unique approach to ensuring trust. It must challenge its own failings

I am not sure these are the biggest reforms for decades/for a generation.

Core proposal is incredibly similar in analysis, spirit and content to 2022 Nationality and Borders Act of Priti Patel (offer temporary protection of 30 months)

The 2023 Illegal Migration Act more sweeping

Both failed

so far that "great patriot and lover of Britain" Farage has.....
begged Trump to punish Britain financially.
begged Trump to destroy the BBC.
has plans to sell the NHS to America.
bet against Britain's finances during Brexit.

Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.

I was wondering this too.
Why is everyone mispronouncing Claudia this morning? I've known a few and they all pronounce it 'clawdia' and never 'cloudia', except Claudia Cardinale and she's foreign.

Hey, just reminding you Charlie Kirk was an awful person that said hateful false things to other awful people. His espoused beliefs were anti-Christian and Turning Point USA is a dangerous organization grooming your kids.

Dead right. I used to advise my readers to never base investment strategy upon forecasts but rather upon the range of possible outcomes; we need resilience in the face of uncertainty.
I know it’s always like this. But one striking thing from the budget kite flying and kite pulling back in, is how major policy decisions are constantly being buffeted around by iterative forecast changes.
All feels a bit of a silly way to be making major economic policy & political decisions.

The book cited here is well worth a read. It’s called ‘How They Broke Britain’. Extraordinary to think that any new epilogue would now have to include Jeffrey Epstein.
@mrjamesob.bsky.social @lbc.co.uk The network links are further exposed. ‘The released messages also show Bannon and Epstein discussing UK politics in 2018.’ Bannon texted Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the Brexit thing this morning with Nigel, Boris and Rees Mogg." www.bbc.com/news/article...

If Trump still sues the BBC, notwithstanding their apology, he is in a far less strong position than if the BBC had not apologised.

The apology was tactically a sensible, prudent move by the BBC whether Trump sues or not.

The British don’t like Trump, they don’t like bullies and they don’t like the people who run with the bullies.
Buckle up - because this now amounts to a direct and deliberate attack on our country and its cultural sovereignty. Which side our politicians take - Trump's or the BBC's - over the coming days and weeks will speak volumes about their patriotism.
Trump says he will sue BBC for at least $1bn over Panorama edit
The US president confirmed he intends to sue the broadcaster for at least $1bn over the Panorama edit of a 2021 speech.
