Formerly FinCEN, CFPB, and U.S. Department of Justice. Currently Sr. Counsel at Hogan Lovells. If failure is learning, then brilliance is my destiny. Views are my own & and do not necessarily represent the views of Hogan Lovells or its clients/personnel.
I thought I was the only person who noticed this. Glad it’s not just me.
Without going into all the other theories this photo inspires...the person in the mirror reflection is super creepy. Like a bit of Gothic horror meets Manet's A Bar at the Folies-Bergère

I want you guys to understand something. There aren't 65 million immigrants in this country, but there are 65 million Latinos.

They're using the same language and tactics they once used against Black people and Indigenous people.

This is ethnic cleansing.

In case anyone is struggling with what happened last week, like I am, I’ve written ten ways we can take care of ourselves.

#1. Exercise. At a time like this when we can’t help but let our thoughts get carried away with themselves, we have to do what we can to get out of our own heads.

Serious questions for my friends who are partners at these firms:

- would you now take on a matter (paid or pro bono) that required you to be adverse to Trump?

- if Trump now demands you take a matter for him that was blatantly unconstitutional (say, defending no-process renditions), would you?
Here is an up to date list of Big Law collaborators along with how much in free legal services they have pledged to Trump's causes.

Alright, I think people knew of the tariff pause and traded it beforehand.

You can see before Trump posted "buy" on Truth Social, traders opened $QQQ $TQQQ and $SPY calls

RIGHT BEFORE THE NEWS, someone opened $SPY 509 calls, expiring TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those calls are up 2100% in one hour.

Arresting someone without charge, explanation, or due process to silence dissent is unconstitutional. This type of thing happens in dictatorships, not America.

You don’t have to agree with Mahmoud Khalil to defend his rights—if his freedoms can be taken by the Trump administration, so can yours.

Choose your (horrific) adventure: (1) the WH accidentally let an unapproved visitor from [checks notes] Russian state media into Oval near the President and the President of the sovereign nation that it had invaded; or (2) the WH intentionally let this rep from Russia State media & then lied.
Hi, former White House intern, DNC communications staffer, and re-election team partner here:

One does not ‘slip’ into the Oval Office. Does not. Period, ever. That’s not a thing.
Someone from Russian state media just slips into the Oval Office?????

Let’s call it what it is: DOGE is promoting fraud—it’s falsely embellishing its own efficacy while undermining actual accountability offices.
Last week, DOGE posted an online “wall of receipts,” celebrating how much it had saved by canceling federal contracts. Now it has deleted all of the 5 biggest “savings” on that original list, after NYT and other outlets pointed out errors. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/u...
DOGE Quietly Deletes the 5 Biggest Spending Cuts It Celebrated Last Week (Gift Article)
The cuts, highlighted on an earlier version of the “wall of receipts” posted by Elon Musk’s team, contained mistakes that vastly inflated the amount of money saved.

Why get all spun up about Trump's "I may run for a third term in 2028" nonsense? It's a distraction, at best. And not even the GOP really wants it. But if an Obama v. Trump election (them: "but, but, but....!") is in the cards, fine.

But either way, it's just a distraction from issues of 2025.

@mcuban.bsky.social is right. We will not--as progressives, or as humans--survive by running away from--and vilifying--emerging technology. That doesn't mean that we can't have reasoned, thoughtful discussions about what (if any) controls we may want/need, but just throwing rocks isn't the answer.
I have to admit that I've been surprised at the level of hate at AI LLMs.

There is finally a tool that allows those without access to an advanced education to self learn, anywhere , anytime. To get answers to questions, (even if sometimes wrong) , that they would otherwise never have access to
Nag. Sorry. I can't abide the pocket lining any more. You've been a better billionaire than most, but at the end if the day, it's all just a meal ticket for you. Gross.
