I made up my mind that I was not one bit better than the meanest on earth. I said then, & I say now, that while there is a lower class, I am in it, & while there is a criminal element, I am of it, & while there is a soul in prison, I am not free. - EV Debs

A lot of people made fun of Bush dancing with the West African Dance Company—and sure, it's funny—but this was good.

Middle aged white guy unfamiliar with something culturally nonwhite recognizes it's a happy, fun celebration, and welcomes it, participating though awkward.

That was much better.

Ring is a wildly dangerous company. Always has been. But it has sort of flown under the radar the last couple years as it tried to soften its image. Make no mistake that this is an extremely dangerous surveillance dragnet:

With Ring, American Consumers Built a Surveillance Dragnet
Ring's 'Search Party' is dystopian surveillance accelerationism.

perhaps deploying ICE agents into previously peaceful neighborhoods with orders to kidnap and intimidate Americans has some (perhaps, unforeseen?) consequences that are not really so surprising nor unjustified?

"Wall Street has to adjust for the fact that we're deporting millions of illegals out of the job market."

Is that a good thing for the economy or a bad thing, because it seems bad? and asking the market to get used to bad news seems like another bad thing.

a friendly reminder that the economic impact of immigration (legal and illegal) is well studied and it is very clear that "even" illegal immigration is a net economic positive
Peter Navarro: "The jobs report comes out tomorrow. We have to revise our expectations down significantly for what a monthly job number should look like ... Wall Street has to adjust for the fact that we're deporting millions of illegals out of the job market."

Reps. Massie and Khanna say they've found at least six names of individuals "likely incriminated" by their inclusion in the Epstein files after reviewing unredacted docs.

Massie: "We found six men whose names have been redacted, who are implicated in the way that the files are presented."

Politicians have spent so long being terrified of being labeled anti-cop that this administration is now getting away with shielding the identities of guys in quasi-legal rendition squads by pretending that *they* are the people at risk.

There are so many it should be satire. If Trump were middle class, he'd be a guy who was stopped for running a red light, and begged off the ticket by claiming he was in hurry to get the stolen bank money to the hitman he'd hired to kidnap a teenager-the cop would let him go without checking his ID
And the crimes! So many crimes! We have national security crimes, sex crimes, financial crimes, health crimes, war crimes, crimes against humanity, crimes against justice, crimes against the climate, crimes that threaten the very survival of the human race.

As John Keegan writes in his Churchill biography, “To the Nazis, legality and fair play were symptoms of democratic weakness that they gloried in affronting.” That applies here.

Broadly, however, what these are are crimes of betrayal. Trump and Epstein and all of their co-conspirators—from Peter Thiel and Rupert Murdoch to Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem; from Elon Musk and Jared Kushner to Howard Lutnick and Steve Bannon—have betrayed us.
