Inaugural post I suppose? I'm Grint, he/him, I like TTRPGs (generally anything but D&D), cool indie video games, animals, doing craftemup games with pals. I've been very slowly working on writing some micro rpg stuff. I'm a part of the Coffin Club actual play podcast (link in bio).

Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips.
If you're anti-AI you should not be playing Arc Raiders!

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.
They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

It is increasingly clear that there is a crisis of trust in legacy media, five-alarm fire stuff. It is bad for any news outlet to have a reputation that wards off people it should be talking to, and the wary are growing in number

The most basic argument I can give you for ditching Spotify for *anything* is Spotify, uniquely, pays *nothing* for much of the music on the platform. Is there *any* improvement in paying for Spotify over pirating? You're a paper-thin moral slice away from buying music from a bootlegger. Why do it?
Confirmed: From 2024, tracks on Spotify will have to be played 1,000 times before they start earning money
Spotify has told industry players that it expects the new 1,000-play minimum annual threshold will reallocate tens of millions of dollars per year from 0.5% of its current royalty pool to the other 99...
