I find people being locked out of the stuff *they physically own* and forced into an overpriced tech ecosystem to be offensive, honestly.

It makes a person of color tradie feel way less isolated when a credentialed ally sees the same string of truth.
Chinese engineering team: here's schematics for the TSDZ2 drive, we can also send one with a programming interface if you need.

A certain German engineering team: if you document our drivetrain system and try to bypass our parts pairing we'll sue you

Embarrassing that the stupid republican villages were one of the first places to adopt mass golf cart transportation. They use so much less energy to get around than the people in PT who lease a brand new rav4 every fucking year. U.S. urbanism feels like a masturbatorium of motion for action.

a lot of us are safe streets advocates, because we have had people close to us die senselessly because of our car centric transportation system. so no, we won't find another hill

“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability & quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.
Air pollution fell substantially as the city restricted car traffic and made way for parks and bike lanes.

If designed inclusively, cycling infrastructure offers independent mobility to those with physical impairments who are left behind by car dependence.

For many people housebound or reliant on others for transport, two—or three—wheeled travel isn’t just a form of movement, it’s a form of empowerment.

We literally have data showing that cars -- especially large trucks and SUVs-- *are* inherently deadly because of their design. I have no patience for this.

Ebikes are not just bikes with a motor and battery. They are a new form of transportation

“Our results reject nesting electric with conventional bicycles, underscoring their distinct characteristics and minimal shared unobserved attributes”
Interesting study from Germany on e-bikes and the modes they replace:

"43.1% of electric bicycle trips and 63.2% of electric bicycle mileage would have been undertaken using a car if no e-bike had been available, highlighting their substantial potential to reduce transport-related CO2 emissions"
Further, steeper, greener: Implications from an electric bicycle mode choice model
Electric bicycles are transforming the active mobility landscape, potentially increasing active mode uptake and delivering environmental and health benefits. This study examines electric bicycle mo...

Tried a really neat bucket bike for the first time last night! Super cool, will probably still never own one though.

The Honda Nippi was for wheelchair users to retain mobility. They still make these types of vehicles, but you can’t get them here in the states.

Video my sister-in-law helped me shoot at the beginning of the season talking about the tools/trikes/bikes in the workflow. Even in video it’s hard to get a sense of scale, but nothing pictured is wider than 4ft.

At first we just smiled when we’d see each other.
Then said hello.
Then started riding side by side for a few mins with some small talk.

And after a few weeks we got to know each other & became friends!

I have never made a friend on a car commute.

Bikes build community.

You always risk something when you monetize something you love. For me I haven’t gone on a proper bikepacking trip since I started this business because of the seasonal overlap. Very much miss biking for adventure.

I'm 1.94m (6'4") tall and would absolutely buy this car if they were available for purchase in the US. It's simple A to B transportation. I don't want a mortgage on 4 wheels for simple, daily life.
If cars were just Necco Wafer-colored Busytown buggies, I would be ok with them.

There’s money for tax cuts for the wealthy

Yet there’s no money for healthcare, housing, food assistance, social support, or public broadcasting.

There’s no money to help the sick, homeless & starving

So cool never having to go to the gas station to fill big tanks, then a bunch of little tanks mixed with oil, then spill a bunch when you go to fill the even smaller tanks on tools. - None of that with an all battery workflow! 🔋
