I enjoyed watching the silent film He Who Gets Slapped, on Tubi. It might have been an inspiration for the Joker, about a humiliated man who becomes a rebellious clown in a subversion of normative values. It reads like a moving comic book, with each shot carefully posed and title card dialog.

I'm glad people are learning the nuances of Nazi oppression, but I wish it was under better, more academic circumstances, not how best to compare our modern police state to historical examples.

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

Having seen several abductions up close, it is really hard to convey how much the thing they’re doing is roaming in military convoys until they see someone who is alone and isn’t white, and then jumping out in large numbers, pulling them into a van, and screeching off, all in 90 seconds or so.

There's a freeway sign outside of Seattle that was vandalized in the strangest way. It's like a "next exit includes these restaurants" sign, but instead of restaurant logos, it's some old guy's face. Like, I think someone blanked out the sign and printed the man's face. Trolls are getting creative.

Wild that we dropped the insistence on washing our hands the instant it was determined that it didn't significantly impede the spread of covid. It still stops spreading nasty germs like e coli! Wash with soap and water every time you use the restroom!
