It's still driving me round the bend that I have to scroll down to find my place every time I load my posts on here. Surely it doesn't have to be this way!? #BlueskyHelp
Just reading an article about the new year's honours list, was outraged that Lucy Bronze wasn't among the Lionesses honoured... then checked and found she's already an MBE 😂

I've just checked Goodreads and I've only read 3 fiction books this year 😂 so it's between War of the Worlds, Crime and Punishment, and Thursday Murder Club #4... I think Osman just pips it, narrowly beating Dostoyevsky for how much I enjoyed reading it
I am not sure I’ll get the same traction here as I did on the dark place but please answer and REPOST and let’s try to build a lovely bookish thread.

The best book you read this year was…

Mine undoubtedly The Elements by John Boyne (please check trigger warnings first).

I'm towards the younger end of mellenial, but I've always been an elder mellenial at heart 😂
Saw Bluesky described as where elder millennials go to retire from the internet, and immediately felt the peace that passes all understanding wash over me. None of have to struggle any longer. We completed our time.

I'm gonna write a book set in a school from the perspective of a quiet kid whose chance of escape from his awful home life is ruined by badly behaved kids and the adults who do nothing about it.

Annual reminder that Christmas is a twelve day festival. There is no such thing as "the time between Christmas and new year", it's called Christmas.

The fact that Brentford's trouncing of Bournemouth was so far down the Match of the Day billing is ridiculous. #3PointsOffEurope

We were told to bring presents to show at church, so I went wearing my new dressing gown, yellow leather gardening gloves, and swim goggles 😁

It's December 21st. Our recycling bins are full. The next collection isn't till January 8th. We've got Christmas to do before then. When's the dump open?

Absolutely brilliant episode to end the term! I looked at applying for Houstone when they were looking for starting staff, wasn't the right time to move though, now we've moved to Derby instead :)
What do you get if you cross a turnaround school with a startup school?

Yup - a whole load of problems.

But Liz English is actually doing it, and leading one of the most fascinating and successful schools in the country.

My final chess club of the calendar year and I've been defeated! My unbeaten record is broken by a year 10. I got cocky being a queen up and got back ranked! #Chess

Heard an assistant head telling all this morning to look at the red sky, quoting an old rhyme about shepherds... My head: "A red sun rises, blood has been spilt this night" 🏹🍃

Paging #ALevelMaths teachers: are permutations on A level? I've only started teaching it last year so only do half the course - from what I can see online AQA doesn't use them, do other boards? Edexcel?

Gah. Family dropping like flies to a sickness bug. Youngest a few days ago, wife last night and today, eldest feeling rough all afternoon, middle throwing up at bed time and... now I've been got.

I just needed to use Pythagoras in everyday life!
We are using tape to mark up a 3-mens morris board on stage. The board need to be about 2.5m square. How much tape do we need? (I make it ~22 metres).

What a victory! Today MPs narrowly backed our bill to cut the Brexit red tape and end this economic nightmare.

The PM must listen to Parliament and the public, drop his self-imposed red lines and go for growth with a new customs union.
