I love biking for fun and exercise.

I also love biking for transportation and errands. Once I have better storage, I do want to get a nice e bike.

Not owning a car can make certain things more difficult, but the cost savings are incredible.
I've always wondered why so many "enthusiast" type cyclists (roadies, MTBers) don't own and use cargo bikes for daily errands.

I mean, clearly you love bikes. Seems weird to me that you wouldn't want more reasons to ride bikes. velo.outsideonline.com/urban/urban-...
Why We're Ditching Cars for Cargo Bikes (And Why You Should Too)
Cargo bikes are cheaper, faster for short trips, and more fun than the family SUV. Here's why you should make the change.

"... Iconic destinations."

Except they won't do anything to actually make it easier to get to (fix transit). Or nicer to be a human in (remove personal vehicles). Or a place for local businesses ($$$$ rent.)
Council Update: The finalized plan to redevelop Lansdowne was approved by Council today.
Lansdowne 2.0 will bring modern sports and entertainment facilities, retail, housing, and revitalized public spaces to one of #OttCity’s most iconic destinations.

Woah woah woah. Just had a thought.

Does Bill 60 also mean that roads can't be closed to vehiclular traffic for *temporary* bike lanes (ie. NCC bike days, CN Ride for CHEO, etc.)

I shouldn't get a coffee advent calendar (So much waste!) but also I want a coffee advent calendar (Whimsey! New coffees without possibly hating them and wasting a bag!)

"But it's cold! They can't be outside for long without the car."

DRESS WARMLY UNDER A COSTUME. Or over. It doesn't matter.

Park the car. Leave the car. If you HAVE to drive, turn your lights on (yes, saw a car last night without lights), drive slowly, give lots of space.
me and the neighborhood dads spent trick or treating slowly walking down the middle of the street to force traffic to a crawl. park, get out and walk with your kids you pieces of shit

There was a watermain break on Carleton Campus last Friday. There's another one right now.

When I was working on campus, I dealt with two different floods in my building. They've had at least one more since I moved departments.

Failing infrasctucure is everywhere and it sucks.

So... These "new units" will go on the market, for a higher price, and the people who are being kicked out will ALSO need housing, but will likely not be able to afford it.

That's not an increase in housing supply, that's an increase of money in a Landlord's pockets and screwing the renters.
This article says landlords currently aren't putting their properties on the markets, and making regulations more favourable to landlords would 'unlock' tens or hundreds of thousands of new properties. I'm not real estate expert, but I find that all hard to believe.

If only there was some way for this driver to have realized they had already gone the wrong way on a one way street (they went north on O'Connor at Strathcona). And then tried to continue the wrong way (north) at Pretoria.

Of course women don’t like the Cybertruck.

Women only want one thing, and it’s Baby.

I'm wearing a pair of (men's) dress pants I bought in early 2020 for my (then new) job. They didn't fit when I started going back to the office, but I kept them because they're nice.

Tried them on last night, they fit again!

I know why men commit crimes though. No stretch. So uncomfortable.

What is it about the tiniest bit of rain that makes drivers forget that people outside of cars exist?

My High School already dropped the name a few years ago.
There's actually a ton of things (schools whatever) named after him in Canada. Duke of York Boulevard in Mississauga and Prince Andrew Place in Don Mills to name a few. Plaques galore.

What becomes of them, I wonder.
BREAKING

In the aftermath of emails he and his former wife sent to Jeffrey Epstein being revealed, Prince Andrew says he has given up his title as the Duke of York, among other honors.

This also means that his former wife, Sarah, Duchess of York, will now only be known as Sarah Ferguson.

How? Just how?
What the fuck #Autowa are you doing on that auto?! And that's in a 40km zone which makes me think dude was looking at his phone and not the parked cars along Main Street. Geez!

Happy "I'm not sick, it's just a little chilly and my nose starts to run" season to all who celebrate.
Welcome to "Nose is a little drippy" bike season.

Just cold enough to fire up the nose faucet, not cold enough to kill the allergens. But you all look great in those sweaters and leaf stompin boots. 💙🚲💛

New bike's first (mini) real gravel excursion. To Gats from downtown, up Pink, Mackenzie King, then trail 30 to Wattsford Lookout for some Coffee Outside.

(I had brought my mini raclette grill, but there's an open fire ban on, so we went with cold cheese.)

After nearly 10 years of almost daily use, my day to day Pannier (Timbuk2 Alemany 26L pannier) has a broken back plastic reinforcement panel. It's sitting real weird on my rack rails, I clip my heel, and I don't trust it anymore.

What do folks like about your panniers? What do you not like?

My folks left town today (visiting from Halifax), and now I'm back at work. I'd much rather be out riding my new bike.

Please? Can I just go ride my bike?
