Chinese dramas don’t fit a single mould, which means for those who prefer rugged & gritty dramas with more senior actors, there is a wide pool of dramas to choose from - while for those who prefer a more imaginative play of visual senses, or for romantic flights of fancy, there is a wide choice too

Availability on your platform of choice is a factor here, but I find the view that westerners primarily watch idol c-dramas fascinating.
My friends & I watch a wide range and the ones I rewatch tend to have more experienced actors in their 30s and older. That said, I adore Zhao Lusi and Li Landi.

So I've been thinking a lot about how to answer this question for Cdramas but a) I haven't watched a huge number of them so I'm probably not the best qualified to do it and b) the majority of Cdramas that westerners watch are "idol dramas" which is a small slice of the dramas that China produces.
