The public’s capacity to hold the military & its civilian ldrs accountable is a core principle of democratic control of the military.

If Pentagon reporters can’t do their jobs, citizens won‘t have info they need to do their part

Which may be the point here.

Pentagon demands journalists pledge to not obtain unauthorized material
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is imposing strict new rules that would severely limit the ability of journalists to report on the Pentagon.

🚨 The CDC as we know it is being severely altered tonight.

In addition to the CDC director being ousted, the Post is reporting that several senior leaders are leaving as well.

Here are from two of the resignations:

Re-upping: if you work at EPA, NOAA, FEMA, NIH, CDC, USDA or other agencies that involve really any sort of science in their work, and you have something you want the public to know, I would always love to hear from you. Signal is davelevitan.26 and you can remain anonymous.
Hey is it good that FEMA is suspending employees that warned publicly that the agency isn't ready to manage disasters with the peak of hurricane season two weeks away
'A lot of folks are terrified': FEMA joins EPA in retaliation against dissenting staff
The result of all that is an obvious chilling of the federal workforce's speech.

COVID cases are on the rise -- and RFK just took away the ability for millions of Americans get COVID vaccines.

COVID shots are now only FDA approved for 1) people 65+ and 2) people w/ underlying conditions that put them at severe risk.

That's it. www.huffpost.com/entry/covid-...

Remember: There is nothing natural or inevitable about extreme inequality; it’s the result of an economic system that values wealth and power over human dignity and justice.

It doesn't have to be this way.

This is an infuriating read. Can we please acknowledge the different language we use when discussing mental health in women vs men.

An overlooked demographic has the highest suicide risk — and it’s been rising
The people most at risk from suicide aren’t adolescents in angst or those experiencing a midlife lull, but men age 75 and older.

NEW: In an unprecedented move, the NIH will soon disinvite dozens of scientists about to take positions on advisory councils that make final decisions on grant funding.

NIH staff were told to select others aligned with the Trump administration and told to expect placements by political appointees.
Exclusive: NIH to dismiss dozens of grant reviewers to align with Trump priorities
The move would undo years of work, leaving advisory councils understaffed, and without the full expertise needed for reviews.

Prasad, Makary, and Bhattacharya fluffed and legitimized Kennedy.

Until they resign, they own everything he does- withdraw from GAVI, fake citations, measles quackery.

They own it all.

Trump's stated motive for tariffs is to bring manufacturing back to the US. Critics have said that will never happen because labor isn't cheap here. Meanwhile, Trump is building more prisons and detaining people as fast as he can. We do have free/cheap labor in the US. This was always the plan.
