If you want to know why it is so important to stand up for the rights of all LGBTQIA+ individuals, and call out whose who spread division and hate, this is just one of far too many examples. I'd go with Joss's husband who was there's account over those who weren't.

I have recently discovered podcasts & have become mildly addicted to a couple that deal with/frequently discuss supposedly obscure facts.
Have concluded that a lot of "obscure facts" are simply things that are common knowledge to the moderately well-educated 65+ person.🤷🏼♀️

This is an e.g. of real issues the Supreme Court didn't think through. The law means nothing if it doesn't work in the real world. I get that, for lawyers & judges, it is an academic exercise (I have been guilty of that) but the public will lose faith in the rule of law unless the law makes sense.
