Former forensic scientist (RCMP), governance expert in conflict countries (UN), devoted follower of Christ. I love righteousness, and the old Westminster values of probity, merit, professionalism and apolitical neutrality. And peanut butter and wine.

Just listened to the @theresthistory.bsky.social episodes on Disney and this image kept coming back to me, especially in the interview with Bob Iger. Come on Canucks, keep up the USA travel boycott!

President Trump says he's asking the Justice Department to investigate Jeffrey Epstein's ties to high-profile figures, including political foes https://cnn.it/3M1ebp3
Re the latest on Epstein, etc.: A lot of people snorted at us, when we talked about character, and its importance in high office, as in life. "Moral preening!" they cried. Bullshit. If character is not "destiny," it is still crucial, as we see every day, unto forever.

One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc
My expert political opinion is that killing the job market, raising grocery prices, kicking people off their health care, stealing taxpayer money, and trying to starve 40 million Americans is pretty damn unpopular.

We made our first lasagna for lasagnalove.org yesterday. I'm convinced the way out of our current algorithm/corruption nightmare is being kind to the guy down the street. You should all sign up and deliver a lasagna to someone who will appreciate a warm meal.

Good. Seriously. Please let Trump pick every SEC coach. Let him make every decision for the entire conference. The only way we'll ever break Trump fever in that part of America is to let him get involved with their college football decisions because they care deeply about that shit
It seems to me a candidate could run on four planks in the US and win handily: abolish ICE, remove tariffs, end extrajudicial killings, bulldoze the ballroom. Does that about cover it?

Enten: "Canada is far more popular than Donald Trump is here in the United States. The net popularity of Canada is +49. Trump is -10. We're talking about Canada coming out nearly 60 points ahead on the net popularity ratings versus Donald Trump here in the US"
WSJ EDITORIAL BOARD: “.. It’s striking that Mr. Trump is so worried about a TV spot featuring a President who left the White House nearly 37 years ago. .. Perhaps Mr. Trump fears he’s going to lose the tariff case, and maybe he also knows his tariffs are unpopular ..”

Carney: "We can't control the trade policy of the US. We recognize it has fundamentally changed from the policy in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, & it's a situation where US has tariffs against every trading partner... what we we can control is developing new partnerships, including w/econ giants of Asia"

The presumption of regularity is a great and useful phrase. I've worked on governance for decades in corrupt countries and have understood how important values that aren't legislated are. What a tragic loss for the world, for the USA.
The destruction of the East Wing is a reminder that America has violated the only check-and-balance that actually ends up mattering: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/the-only-c...

McSweeney's is often funny. In this case, it's a gut punch of heavily documented truth. Click the links and share them with any politician who claims these were kids, or that the rot doesn't start at the top. www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/you...
