We will be out door knocking again tomorrow (Saturday 14 February) 10.30-12.30. Meet outside the Co-op, 114 Dalry Road, Edinburgh.

We will give full briefing and notes at the start and we will team up experienced hands with those of us coming newer to it. So no experience is required.

Absolutely brilliant take-down by @fionaharvey.bsky.social
of ludicrous myths & misinformation spouting from Tony Blair’s think tank. Why on earth does he think it’s sensible to make our energy more costly & less secure?
Tony Blair’s oil lobbying is a misleading rehash of fossil fuel industry spin
Ex-PM’s thinktank urges more drilling and fewer renewables, ignoring evidence that clean energy is cheaper and better for bills

Sad that storms have wrecked Arran's Fisherman's Walk, although the rapid community response is uplifting to see.👏🏼

At a national level, we're calling for a £50million Scottish Paths Fund in the next parliament to address the collapse in funding for our much-loved paths & world-class access rights.
Fundraiser launched to repair popular walking route destroyed by storm

It was wet at times today but mild enough to get out on the bike for the first time in 2026 (albeit mountain bike). Up to kirknewton, through Selm Muir Wood and up to Morton Reservoir - a first for me. I got as far as Morton Farm before lashing rain bid me turn around and back via Glen Brook.

It’s a reminder that while it feels like a long long period of rain, up in the far north west it’s often been glorious weather. Who’d have thunk it?
Winter can be a challenging time to work in North West Scotland, but it certainly has its moments.

One of our Reserves Project Officers snapped these stunning photos while undertaking path maintenance and checking the people counters at our Ben Mor Coigach reserve.

Not a bad day at the office 😎

The North East has been battered by constant rain for weeks so where better to go by train and bus today but Stonehaven for a wet walk with @ramblersscotland.bsky.social groups in Grampian followed by the Area AGM this afternoon?

It says something for the (fool)hardiness of our staff team that, in the midst of weeks of working outside in bone-numbing east winds, they choose to go to an ICE rink on their team day…
It's not often we can chance to get together as a staff team . Naturally when we do, we like to be within a stones throw of the river.

So thanks to Curl Edinburgh for teaching us the skills of the stones , a fabulous lunch at Dine and then pints at the Roseburn bar

Our visitor centre @wolct.bsky.social is closed just now for heat pump installation so we are grateful to the Fingal Hotel boat in Leith for offering us a free meeting room for our board meeting this evening. A cut above our usual standard!

I’m off to join the @ramblersscotland.bsky.social Lothian and Borders area at their annual get together in Linlithgow today: walks in the morning and sharing experiences in the afternoon. And avoiding the rain… Looking forward to meeting and hearing from local members!

Regular visitors to @wolct.bsky.social centre on Lanark Road should note that the building is closed from 26 January, reopening again on 7 February. This is to allow us to install our new air source heat pump and associated works, part of our journey to being a net zero emissions charity.

I was delighted to join in the first AGM of the West Highland Way Trust today. The trail is the first and best-known of our 4 formal long distance routes and 29 Great Trails in Scotland. There is no dedicated funding for our national paths so part of the focus of the Trust is investment.

Just belatedly clocking this from last week: Scottish Government confirming the delay of the Rural Support Plan. From @ramblersscotland.bsky.social POV we are shocked that there is no provision for outdoor access funding in draft plan: in contrast to previous arrangements and to the Welsh scheme.
