30 years ago they were like we have to ban song lyrics for the children but it’s full steam ahead for the here’s how to do drugs until you die machine
“ChatGPT started coaching Sam on how to take drugs, recover from them and plan further binges. It gave him specific doses of illegal substances, and in one chat, it wrote, ‘Hell yes—let’s go full trippy mode’”

CNAs have higher rates of suicide than nurses or physicians and we usually only talk about our own problems.

Have you ever had a favorite bot?

Mine: "bio: not a bot. pfp: [clearly AI was used here and not very well]"

Congrats to whoever created it. I see you.

Pet rabbits released into the wild can be much more destructive to your garden than an entire colony of wild rabbits because pet rabbits aren't used to eating weeds, they want Tasty Vegetables and will completely destroy their fave that they found in your garden.

RIP 2025 bush beans.

The "raisins in food" controversy isn't about cinnamon raisin bread.*

It's about raisins in potato salad and coleslaw.

*Okay, some people don't like it but y'all are uncivilized. Try it in French toast.

The taxes come from individuals. Not the states.
Said Blue states should suspend federal tax payments immediately.

Spent the afternoon plotting my book club reading for the year (we have assigned themes but get to pick our own books). Here's hoping I timed the holds correctly. 🤞

Our #vaccine recommendations remain in place and are based on decades of research and are aligned with the @ameracadpeds.bsky.social. We encourage all families to keep your kids up to date on vaccinations and talk with your health care provider if you have any questions. doh.wa.gov/immunization

Providence (which RFK has stated a belief in) is even more terrifying than thoughts & prayers imo because it's a belief that god has already ordained the outcome.
The CDC changed the universal vaccine schedule & no longer recommends

Rotavirus
Hepatitis A & B
Meningitis
Influenza
RSV

I’ve cared for previously healthy kids who died from RSV, influenza and meningitis.

We all are going to be caring for a lot more now.

RFK keeps hollowing out the vaccination system that keeps children - and the rest of us - safe. So dangerous.

I learned this as a *homeschooler* because of the newspaper.

I hadn't understood that there was a misunderstanding behind the online fervor.
It shouldn’t surprise me that people don’t understand how impeachment works.

When The Kid was in 11th grade she got into an argument with someone who claimed that if an elected official was impeached they were automatically removed from office. The Kid pushed back and presented factual information

So they admit that they aren't going to really help the few people they approve of? Because if the gov actually helped, that would cause someone to "become dependent on government handouts"?
No.

Social safety nets crumble when we wrap them in neoliberal rhetoric aimed at dividing people and deluding them into thinking that everyone--except some tiny group of perfect poor--should be able to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps, even if their boots have been nailed to the floor.

Please note the part where there's a way to qualify / sign up other than by being on SSI.
Hey, so starting in nine days, if you were Disabled before age 46, you can have your own ABLE account (in the U.S.).

And I have this thread on how to go about choosing an ABLE account.
As a Disabled person who has my own ABLE account, I've been asked to say a little bit about it. And honestly, I've started a few times in the past but part of the problem is ABLE accounts vary so much from state to state and part of the problem is, as Dan writes, they're hard to understand.

FYI, if you've been trying to do the alt text thing without knowing any actual guidelines for it, Eb posted a tutorial.
Haven't been taken up on my offer, so let's go ahead with the lesson anyway.

Here's an example of effective alt text for the image in the above quoted post.

And an example of when summarizing/paraphrasing an image of text is acceptable.

The flu vaccine didn't exist in 1918...
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has stated that the 1918 flu pandemic was caused by a lab virus from vaccine research, a defective influenza vaccine. Let’s analyze what a lie this is. First, in 1918, 107 years ago, virology was in its infancy

Reminding everyone that some people believe that what has made our economy great in the past has been war ("it wasn't the New Deal, it was WW2") and that some of what the left says we want the gov will give you - if you join the war.

Yeah, KOMO did this with their "Seattle is Dying" series and if you wanted an excuse for sweeps, sure, but other than that, don't know the point.
CBS leaning into, e.g., the reinforcement of what people *feel* about crime over the responsible dissemination and interpretation of actual crime rates and statistics (a/k/a journalism).

I like the way Sen Hasegawa thinks.
Washingtonians, we have six bills concerning healthcare in the Washington State Legislature. Sharing one for this weekend. SB 5955, introduced by Senator Hasegawa, calls for the deprivatization of Medicaid. The less corporate money in healthcare, the better 🔥

Somebody please tell the car engineers about the whole your-survival-is-better-if-you-can-receive-care-within-the-first-hour thing.
Because assholes won't wear seatbelts a lot of newer cars are equipped with laminate windows that makes it difficult to break the glass. The goal is to reduce the risk of people being ejected from vehicles in a crash.

But it also traps you in a vehicle if the doors can't open.

The point of fluff is because when the bad things aren't theoreticals or stuff happening on a screen, but very real in your life - sometimes you need to stop and catch your breath for a moment.

It's hard to sustain any work of any sort without a break. It's why labor laws exist, or should.
