Houston based CRM archaeologist interested in the late 19th/early 20th century. In particular WWI training camps and conflict sites. I also sometimes have thoughts on movies, beer, and politics. You know, human culture and stuff.
Love Team France and their commitment to pockets.🥌

The era where teams generally provided a blanket allowance for players to participate in the World Baseball Classic appears to be over.

Frankly, Altuve deserves better from the Astros.

Astros' Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa not insured, to miss WBC
Astros stars Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa will not play in the World Baseball Classic due to insurance issues if they were to be injured in the event.

Just because he looks and talks like a Senator out of central casting doesn't mean Cornyn isn't awful. He's currently running virulently Islamophobic campaign ads talking about the dangers of sharia law in Texas. He deserves to lose to the comically (and openly) bigoted, corrupt Paxton.
"What if everyone agrees you’re a workhorse, but they hate the thing you’re working on?"

Great @texasmonthly.bsky.social profile of Senator John Cornyn as he faces what could be his final campaign.
The Last Ride of Big Bad John
John Cornyn is a master of the Senate. That may be the political kiss of death in his reelection bid against Ken Paxton and Wesley Hunt.

If before today you had asked me what big name "auteur director" will hop into bed with AI slop first, I definitely would have said Aronofsky.

Dude's career is built on artsy snuff films.

If they had said "private equity" instead of "customers" this statement would actually be true.

Folks I can't do fascist anxiety and weather anxiety at the same time. Stay warm, stay safe, abolish ICE, impeach everyone, and I'll see you on Tuesday.

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.
Senator Gallego weighs in as well. Note that at the start of 2025 he was considered a *moderate* on immigration and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. Him and many other Dems have been increasingly horrified at what ICE is doing and shifted away from a "more enforcement" focus.

This is the craven torture of a helpless person by federal agents. There can be nothing short of trials and stiff prison sentences for these people and everyone above them in the chain of command. bsky.app/profile/amre...

DHS said in October that "comparing ICE day-in and day-out to the Nazi gestapo, the Secret Police, and slave patrols has consequences."

After I found one of their lawyers for ICE is a racist and a self-described fascist who has praised Hitler, there have been no consequences.
